Default To Nitro or Not to Nitro!

Hey all! Been running electric cars for a while... Thinking about getting a Nitro truck, How reliable are these motors???? I've read some horror stories & I dont have lots a $. But they look awsome comparaed to electric. If anyone out there can let me know how tempermental they are. Or how much maintenece is involved would be great! [:@]

I'm new to the hobby, so I cannot address reliability. For me the Nitro adds another dimension. Sound! My Nitro buggy sounds like I'm attending the time trials at the Indy 500.

The maintenance is not complex nor difficult, but without doubt requires dilegence.

Reliability as far as engine, carb, and transmission goes,,,, I don't know yet.

Pay attention to maintenance, just as you do for your electric. Both nitro and electric are great fun.

Dont buy 2nd hand nirto cars unless you know it has been well maintained. I bought a 2nd hand one and the engine blew, thats £100 down the drain.

They do need quite a lot of maintanence.

Overall they aren't hard to operate or maintain. Most are very durable, but there is a certain amount of upkeep you will need to perform to keep them going. When buying one of these be sure you plan your budget accordingly. Make sure you factor in things such as extra glow plugs, fuel, after run oil, etc. Also you need to know before you start that you will, at the very least, have to change the cylinder and piston at some point in the future.
Also be aware before you buy that you aren't going to be able to just switch it on, drop it on the ground and go like with an electric. Nitro's require a certain amount of patience.

As long as you have patience you will have a great time with a nitro car. They add a realism to r/c cars that electrics just can never get.

Electric cars are faster generally(brushless motors and etc )and easier to service and cleaning.Nitro cars are more sound realistic and time taking to clean and service the engine in order to be in good shape and performance.I have an HPI PRO 3 fully optional, an HPI PROCEED and a KYOSHO V-ONE RRR.More fun i get from PRO3.The others are for race track events. My opinion is to buy HPI PRO 4 with a brushless motor to kill all your competitors. It's guarantee!!!
