Last time I ran my stampede its antenna got hung up as it went under a parked car and tore the antenna clean off. If I just twist the wire back together and wrap with tape will my range be greatly affected?

I doubt twisting it back together will solve the problem. You either need to replace the wire (make sure you get the correct type) or get a new reciever.
Some people try resoldering the wire, but with mixed results (sometimes it just doesn't work)

the antenna on my t-maxx was turn apart a 1/4 inch away from the rx. I also tried to twist it back to but my range was cut very short but when i solderd it my range went back up.

Last night I stripped the traxxas steering servo, so I just ordered a Futaba 2PL radio system with new servo and receiver and all that jazz. It was about time for an upgrade anyway.

here this should work no need for soldering, all you do is cut of the plastic sleving one inch from each side you are working with take the copper wires that is what they should be spread them apart overlay them and then twist till it gets really fine and then wrap it up with Electrical tape and it should be just as good as before in therey.
