Hey folks!
I have the .12 R ss with a 2 needle rotary carb..
Right now.. the engine hesitates to keep running when I start it..
Right after I start it, I have to run it at high rpms for a minute then let idle otherwise it dies.. Also, when its cold, if I slam the throttle it dies in a heartbeat! Top end response is decent but I fear it might be a little lean (hot). I have a temp gun comin.. in the mail
!
I'm thinking I should open up the high end and close the low end each by 2x 1/8 turns or whatever works..
Am I on the right track?
Hi speed needle controls the max fuel so it controls the low speed as well to an extent right?
And.. how the heck does the low speed needle work? I mean.. where is it located and how does it regulate low speed mixture but not do anything for high speed?!
Thanks for looking!

If you think the top end is ok then it should be. The low speed needle is what needs to be turned out (more rich) because it sounds like there isn't enough gas getting to the engine to get it rolling. The low speed needle is on the side of the carb. if you look where the throttle linkage connects to the car...look to the side of that and you should see a little screw. Try and richen the low speed needle because if the top end is ok but may be a little lean richening the low speed needle will give the engine the gas it needs to get to the top end. Also, here is a link that will tell you everything you ever wanted to know.
