Default 3/4 thottle setting...crazy???

I'm setting up my new truck (XXX-NT w/ O.S .12 CVR) and using 1-2mm opening for idle, full throttle gets me maybe 3/4 way full open. It seems like it will be enough acceleration and power for the local tracks. I'm I the only one going with this amount of throttle or do most adjust it to get the carb full open?? The only way I can do this I think would be to have the thing at a 3-5mm idle opening. I think I'll stick with what I've got unless I take a lot of flack for this.

You can leave it like that if you want....but why cut off a sprinter's right leg? You need to adjust the linkage on the throttle arm to get the throttle/brake set up where it needs to be.

If you need to get more throw out of your servo linkage, there's a few things you can do.

Check to see if your radio has end point adjustments. If it does, see if the EPA for throttle is adjusted high enough.

You can also try using a longer servo horn (move throttle linkage to a hole further away from the center of your servo).

Check to see if your servo is centered properly on your radio. Set your radio adjustment in the neutral setting (center the adjustment dial, digital bar, etc). and adjust the servo horn on the servo spline.

If you still need a little more forward travel on the servo, turn the adjustment dial counter clockwise (toward more brake) and then readjust the servo horn for the new "neutral" position accordingly. Doing this will reduce the travel for brake but increase the travel for throttle.

Good luck

I've got the EPA all the way at 10. I also tried moving the arm on the servo with a slight increase, but then in neutral position the carb is open quite a bit. I would like the idle position so that I don't need the brake engaged so much to prevent brake drag. I've got it so that my idle position is the brake (finger all the forward) and that will give me a full open position on the carb. I don't always have to start it with brake applied though.

I'll play around and see what I get. I would ultimately like it so that the neutral position on the remote is more of a lower speed (just above idle) with out brake applied so that when I go into the corners and let off the gas I don't skid turn.

Can you post some pictures of the throttle / brake linkages? Can you tell me the servo model and radio you are using?

Futaba Jr FM w/ 3003 servos, Rotary carb and Losi supplied linkage and servo arm. I'm sure I'll get it. How is yours set? When finger off trigger at idle? ideally this is close to what I'm looking for but w/o so much brake. I'll make some adjustments at the track tonight and see what I find. I was just wondering if I really needed to get the carb full open for ssmall backstrech. It had good accel otherwise. BTW @3/4 this little engine smokes!!

Does the arm on the rotary carb have 2 holes? If it does, move the linkage to the lower one.

Yes, but I'll have to check to be sure. I've played with the linkage and springs for an hour and got it close, but idle is just a tad high for my liking.

I moved the link to the middle hole on the servo arm and bam there it was. This would have been my next step. BTW, went to the track and this truck is off the hook fast!! Now I just need to get some better tires for the track, when I accelerate the car goes sideways..... that and I need to tune the suspension to get the darn thing to turn ok at the track. Any ideas there?? I've put about a deg of toe in and changed the camber a little. Thinking of going with some softer springs and lighter weight oil in the front.
