anybody can share info. bout dying plastic parts ans also what kind of dye,where to but?, any info. is high appreciated...thanks.

Sure, it's easy. Use an old pot to boil the Rit dye in, either liquid or powder as the dye will ruin a good one. Mix it up per instructions and let it get to a slow boil then drop the parts in for just a few minutes. Be careful that you don't dpill any of the dye as it will stain everything. You don't want to know how I know as the wife was plenty mad a long time afterwards! The boiling also helps the parts to take a hit better.

thanks Ron, maybe u dyed the whole stove..since i don't have a wifey yet i can still mess up what color of dye if i want a black turn to red or orange or yellow?,,thus it last though? or u think it's kinda worth to do it?..thanks again.

RIT or Dylon's just follow instructions and use about 10 min on each side of plastic. Remember color mixing rules still apply if the plastic is not white.

Turning something from black to a lighter color is going to be a problem. I used to dye parts from Traxxas and Losi vehicles as they were the natural nylon color so they dyed easily.
Yeah, stains on the stove, sink, floor and countertop. If I were to do it again, it would be outside on a camp stove or something or take the pot outside before removing the parts. I've even done fuel and water lines and Tygon that was on my full-size dune buggy. You can color match zip ties too.

that or you could get a hotplate and do it outside, it would be easier than the camp stove.

You can dye some chrome rims, I read about that somewhere and they looked super good. It may have been the rpm web site where i read it, there were pictures as well.

I just recently did this myself the first time and it is quite easy. Just get all the parts you want to dye together. Fill a pot to a depth that it will cover all parts. I just added a whole bottle of liquid RIT dye and brought it to a near boil and then added the parts. Continuously check the parts/stir to where they are suffieciently dyed to the degree that you want. Before removing them from the pot have a sink prepared with lots of ice and water....this is where the parts must go after the dyeing process. Let them cool down and voila!...dyed parts!!!

the shock towers on the Rc10's arent nylon, there fiberglass, and im almost sure yu can dye it.

I didn't know if I could and did not want to take the chance on ruining them. I kinda like the way it kooks though as it is.
