Hi:

Yesterday I bought the TAM24122, Toyota Land Cruiser 80 w/Sport options (roof lights, etc.)

It's a plastic kit, with the doors moulded.

I do I paint the door openings? The same doubt I have with the rear lights, do I have to mask them and then paint it, and with what paint?

Airbrush? Brush? What kind of paint?

Any experience with this or similar kit from Tamiya?

Do not brush!! There is a certain paint that you must use, it's for lexan or polycarbanate

If you can get the spray cans do it, but if not buy the jars and use an air brush.
Your kit should of come with window masks. They go on the inside of the body. These are the only things you don't paint

Don't forget, your supposed you paint the inside of the body, so when you roll over it doesn't scratch up the paint. This also gives you a perfect high gloss look with out the trouble.

Also there is a clear protective overspary film on the outside of the body, and you must remove it after you are done painting.

Um, am I missing something here? Since when do 1/24 scale Tamiya plastic model kits come with clear lexan/polycarbonate bodies? Every one I've seen is a plastic like ABS or polystyrene, which would use a normal model enamel paint on the OUTSIDE, preferably sprayed on.

i think buzz is correct, i don't think his body is clear lexan. If its not you'll have to spray it on outside with spray can.

Do you mean a 1/24 scale plastic kit like this? See pictures. I also build plastic kits. I did that in 2000. If that's what you mean, which I think you do, then reply back or e-mail me and I can tell you how to do up one of these models. It's completely different than R/C lexan bodies. Much more detail work involved. I even weathered mine to make it look dirty. Notice the mud spray and the windshield. I can also tell you how to do he light lenses properly because Tamiya usually just molds all of them in clear.

polystyrene is another name for styrofoam... I don't think they make styrofoam bodies

Polystyrene is not another name for styrofoam. Styrofoam is made from polystyrene but so are plastic model kits. They are injection molded under high pressure and are not foamed.
