I just noticed the other day while tinkering with my rustler that no matter what I do I cannot get the car to stay still while idleing. Everything runs great but as soon as I get the idle close to where the car won't move the engine cuts off because its too low. Anybody else notice this with their 2.5 rustlers? I'm thinking that the engine just has too much power to keep the car still....

the stock clutch works ok unless you fry it. if you low end adj is off you'll get a poor idle. also a messed up glow plug can cause the same problem. try richening the low end nedle some!

But it isn't dying really....its like i can't set the idle low enough without it moving the car a little. the car either idles and rolls a little or the carb isn't open enough to let the engine idle at all.

Drilling holes in the clutch shoes will make them lighter (naturally). With lighter clutch shoes, the engine needs to rev higher for the lighter shoes to exert enough force on the clutch spring to expand and reach the clutch bell.
If you do decide to drill holes or cut the end off the shoes, make sure you do the exact same thing to both, or one will engage before the other.
Finally, a practical use for physics.
Have fun and good luck.

Did you do the fuel line pinch test? Try pinching the fuel line going to the carburetor.....the engine should die at or around 3 to 5 seconds. If it takes longer than that....then your low speed needle is set to rich.
If you make any adjustments to your needle settings....be sure to do a few high speed passes to get the engine fully warmed up before you do make any adjustments. Once it's fully warmed up....then make the needle adjustments.

cold is not my problem at the moment.....today it was 85! Florida is great for that....in the mean time I got it fixed....one of the gears inside the tranny was stuck and wasn't being allowed to slip....but thanx for all the advice.
