Fox,

I'm suprised you aren't chewing up the 45 tooth pinion gear because you have a mismatch.

18 + 45 = 63

23 + 41 = 64

When doing gearing, you want the sum of the first set to match the sum of the second set. This ensures the same amount of gear mesh in both sets.

You could use a 39T pinion for second and pick your first gear pinion and spurs based on what you have and/or want.

Give some thought towards a 41T 1st and 39T second with highest spurs you could get (so 23 and 21) if you have a lot of wheel spin off the line

My personal setup is the 43T/39T pinions with the stock red spurs (19 and 23). I have a 18ss with RD logics turbo II pipe and with this gearing I reduced my wheel spin (from the stock gearing)

Good luck and nice build.

That's what the gear charts shows for this car. All of the pinions are the same diameter with a little creative teeth spacing. Down at the bottom of the chart it states that you can use any 1st gear pinion with any 2nd gear pinion.

yes i moved to antarctica to slide with the penguins...

yeah you can use any 1st gear pinion with 2nd gear pinions but i think youll need corresponding spurs with it..

watch this clip.. drift stage-d. he uses different color pinions and drifts like a god

LOL!! hahahah! Too funny man!

That car in the video was outrageous [X(] - Not only can it drift like a monster but it looks way good doing it! The whole HPI lighting up on the side thing was incredible. Very cool! - thanks for posting it HeLLsGoD.

I recently purchased the gold pinion gears and I will be heading out to track this weekend so hopefully there will be some kind of difference in bottom end. We will see...

Well, we are about to find out if the GPM center shafts are 18TZ tough.
Sorry if this is a bit off topic.
Could you explain a little about those rear body mount posts and maybe a link of where to get some like that. They really look effective.

Sorry, I have had them for years. They may have been made by Kyosho but I'm not sure.

Buy them! I have alot of runs and center shafts and they are doing great. Now I have broken one of my rear MIP cvd’s so I thinking of ordering the universal axel shafts from GPM also.

OK WOW! [X(] So now I definitely want a TZ! That engine is no joke. Glad to hear the center shafts are holding up Fox, what are your plans for replacing that spur gear? I haven't seen metal or hardened spur gears for our cars and it seems like you're gonna need them.

Default RE: Stronger drive shafts for RS4 3?

I just bought the GPM steering set w/ bearings, a set of foams, heatshrink tubing for the dogbones/shafts. Still waiting to buy 25% AT/VP race fuel and a superchassis. Hopefully everything by the end of the month. Cant wait to recieve them next week and revive my sleeping rs4.

Im still looking where to find a cheap HPI superchassis, $60+ on tower is alot. Anyone else know cheaper?

EDIT:
Also looking for the new HPI drift springs that just came out.. cant seem to find them

Cheers,

I believe the pins that hold the wheel hex drive washers are 2mm correct? Is that what you used? This is a good tip!

HeLLsGoD, what do you think about that GPM 3mm chassis? I know its not the super chassis but it looks decent. The price is not bad either...

Default RE: Stronger drive shafts for RS4 3?

yeah i noticed its fairly cheap.. under $30US delivered to my door. I was actually considering it

[link]http://cgi.ebay.com.au/GPM-Alloy-3MM-Main-Chassis-fits-HPI-Nitro-RS4-3-III_W0QQitemZ170131395909QQihZ007QQcategoryZ34063Q QrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD2VQQcmdZViewItem[/link]

Theres a couple of differences between the two though, one difference is the GPM one is just a straight plate , the proper HPI superchassis has bends on its side edges, making it hard to bend in the middle area. Notice how the stock 2.5mm chassis has a curve on its side edges, those curves make it alot harder to bend and keeps the chassis rigid.

Also the GPM one is heavier i think, and the vent holes are differently placed but still a good buy for under $30. If anyone buys let me know how it goes..

Sorry guys if this is a bit off topic.

Hey HeLLsGoD.... Let's see if you will answer this question. I am still not sure why you couldn't send me a reply to the PM that I sent you. I know if you had time to read it you could of at least been respectful and replied. I am not some little snot nose twit running around asking silly questions.

ANYWAY.

I just ordered a set of those 3racing shocks that you have. I noticed on your report of them that you were going to give and update on the performance on them. Maybe I missed it but I didn't see it.

Could you let me know how they are at performance? I would appreciate it.
