I have a Losi XXXnt sport with the Mach .15 engine. I have ran appx 3/4 gallon of fuel in it so far. My truck runs great,.... accleration is great as well as the idel, but after I run the truck for appx 3 or 4 minutes it will suddenly die, ,and will be pretty difficult to start until it cools down. I didnt think it was too lean due to the fact that you could see the blue smoke trail on accleration. But the engine gets so hot that if you drip fuel on the head it will immediately sizzle to steam, and the aluminum chassis is even hot. Does it sound to be too lean and is there a way to tell if its overheating without buying an expensive temp gauge? And is there an affordiable temp gauge and what should b ethe temp range?

First of all you should see blue smoke when at full throttle. If you see smoke at full throttle then check for air leaks. Water should sit on the head for about 3 to 5 seconds and yes it does sound like it is running hot

thats what seemed odd is that i do get a blue trail of smoke and thought it was rich enough, but obviously its not. thanks for the advise.

If you are getting smoke at full throttle and your not to lean than you probley have an air leak

Since I am leaving a trail of smoke,........what else would cause it to get soo hot,....... I'll replace all of the fuel line and see if that helps too

What % nitro are you running and what temp are you running in? try airplane fuel lol. No seroiusly, it has more oil in it and cools then engine better. first try and richen it out

Im using the recomended fuel "Dynamite 20%" and I dont know what the temp is since I dont own a temp gauge. But I do fly airplanes and I do have some Morgans 15% airplane fuel. And what should the correct temp actually be?

I'm assuming that since it has the mach 15 it is the rtr. That means the body has already had colling holes cut in it, right? Check that the drive train spins freely, front and rear wheels. make sure the engine isn't covered by essecive dirt. make sure your air filter is clean also check the brake at idle and wide open If all this is good than try a cooler glow plug. Hope this helps

yes,....... it already had the holes cut in the body,. and I clean it regularly and Im using an OS A5 plug. I will check the brake and see how it is.

oh ya, you want to drip WATER on the head to test temp. not fuel!!!!

Does anyone have any suggestions on an accurate and reliable, and affordable temperature gauge, and a dealer that carries it?

check radio shack I think they have one for about $50

Radio Shack had one on sale you still might be able to get for $30. Part#22-325. Call or check thier website. Good Luck

I spoke with a rep from horizion and they stated they would send me a new Mach 15 engine. Now my question is,..... How do I remove the fly wheel? Is there some special tool or technique needed to remove it?

The way I remove a stubborn flywheel is by backing off the clutch nut about 1 full turn, rest the end of the pilot shaft (or clutch nut) against a piece of scrap wood and gently tap the back of the flywheel with a hammer. You shouldn't need to use much force.

Hey fuzz, I have the same losi with the mach .15 as well. Same thing, runs great , idles great accels great, gets hot and stalls after about 1/2 tank of fuel. It had started this before and I changed piston and sleeve and it fixed the problem for about a half gallon now its back to doing it again. Was your truck new? Whats the number for horizon, wonder if they would give me a replacement engine Tnanks

1)Use a clean air filter
2) you may be too lean
3) use certain types of plugs according to the weather
4) dont always run at full throttle
