Been part of the military (active and reserves) for almost 20 years. My 20th year is March 23, 2003.
I've was in the Gulf war for 8 months in Saudi (forward area, 20 miles south of Kuwait). I now have friends in the gulf area. I will do it again if called upon.

Just because we said 48 hours, does not mean we have to be there ontime. After all, what's more nerve wrecking than to wait.
Surprise party is always fun.

Umm, im suprised with all these inputs, most people are divided 50-50 with this issue. In all reality i think they were always going have this war, there was no doupt, once they sent all those troops, willinging with the pre knowledge of what they were going to do.
This 48 hours crap, funny enough i think is an excuse, to say "were going to start in 48 hours" what they asked, they knew wouldnt have happened anyhow, pretty much an excuse, saying you had your chance!
Other than that, whos a dictator, bush, or hussein, i think both do that job rather well!
I feel for all inocent people involved, sincerely and that no stupidity causes this to increase the turmoil that people have already predicted for the Iraqi people.
I however do not give a rats arse about the people like bush, howard, blair! They are the ones who have to live with there decisions, and the consquences of them. That be the loss of soldiers lives and also civilians.

Oh man,
Talk about shaking a hornets nest. First of all, we have enough problems in our country like unemployment, poverty, and racism. If they took half the money spent on this war and gave it to the public, life would be much better.
I have experienced racism time and time again because of my background (Ethiopian/Japanese), but it does not make me hate my country, it makes me feel sorry for the ignorant individuals who continue to divulge in abhorent behaviour above wisdom, understanding, and intelligence.
As a graduate (Ph.D.) student, my project is at the fore front of aviation and artificial intelligence. With such a project and impending success, Spetember 11th would not have happened nor will terrorists ever be able to hijack a plane and use it as a weapon. However funding is being 'redirected' toward military projects. As a result, I have to spend my own money.
So what is the big deal with Sadam anyway. I do not believe he would have the balls to attack the worlds most powerful country. We could have threatened him or sent the 'hit squad' to assasinate him. I would have prefered either of the two and we would be viewed as heroes in the world.
We have set a precedent in international policy by attacking Iraq. Basically saying screw the world, our way or the highway!
I can compare these actions to Joseph Stalin during the Soviet Movement (I spent 7 years in Russia.).
I don't care why we are attacking Iraq, but it does not feel right. If this war drags on, there will most likely be a draft (and a slight increase in the Canadian population!).
I hope my words hit your hearts and minds and retain the most critical issue of restoring our great nation at home and abroad. Let us look at each other for what we really are inside, not what someone says we are or desissions about people bassed on inept judgement and hearsay.

Wolffman - I read your post very carefully and would like to comment a bit.
I worked for the Defense Industry back in the early 90s (after coming back from the Gulf War) as a software developer refining the technology (sorry can't disclose). I am a Filipino American and have also experienced racism.
I have seen the Iraqi peoples eyes. I have been in briefings (military). I just wish that the information can be shared. You would change your views also.
I am not by any means attacking/flaming you in anyway. I apologize in advance if I come accross as such. This post was meant to respond to those saying that what the allied nations are doing is wrong.
For me, my wholehearted support to the Commander-in-Chief, the soldiers (allied), and the nations who understand.

I just want to make it clear that I am not an anti war protester or against our president. I just don't think we have the right to attack without following the proper channels, and that there should be more focus on fixing our homeland including the critical issues I retorted.
Personally I would be happy to see a hit squad take out Sadam and his regime. To bad he can not be found using the technology available. Maybe there needs to be improvement in this area.
