Default cost per year?

Lots....

With the money I've spend on broken parts, worn tires and wheels, gas & rechargeable batteries in the past three months I could have probably bought a 2nd car.

Granted, I've become a much better driver and my parts breakage has gone down a little but things still happen. A lot of your expenses will depend on how hard you drive, how often you drive and the conditions you drive in.

If you go out once or twice a week for an hour or so each time and only drive on open fields your extra expenses will be minimal. If you drive in rough terrain around lots of trees and spend a lot of time jumping expect your expenses to go up considerably.

It's all fun, but can get expensive.

i thin kthe main thing is how often you are gonna drive them.

now thats its getting warmer outside, some people will drive every weekend and mayeb a few times a week.

someone with more experience can give you an average run time per gallon of fuel. then you can multiply that to see the cost of fuel per year based on your use.

then like they said how hard you drive. i break alot of stuff but i dont drive too often. when i put my cars away a few years ago, they were broken. just getting them back in running order has cost near $150.
then i spent $80 on batteries and a charger for AA.

drive carefully and your cost should stay near the cost of fuel + someminor parts.

will drive it weekend and sometimes during week. it was the parts rather than the fuel do the engines last a lot longer if you use a higher oil mix

If you're going for Really rough terrain, I'm sure you'll want a 4WD, as far as maintenance I can't speak to the cost on a 4WD. I have an RC10GT. This isn't the kind of thing you can really budget on an annualized scale . You could set a monthly amount you are willing to spend...and TRY to stick to it . I think alot of it depends on how quickly you get addicted and for what lengh of time See Buggies sig.

One thing I can say with confidence is, it will probly be considerable cost for the first couple mos of ownership, considering the initial expense of getting set up and the parts you break until you: 1. learn how to drive 2. settle down a bit cause parts and travel to LHS are getting too expensive, or 3. put your car up after you've blown your budget, until the next month.

Welcome to RCU, and have a great time:thumbup:

$485 seems kinda high ....maybe its cause of the currency conversion or something.

you can find it online for less at places like www.towerhobbies.com or many other online retailers.

rc10gt is in the stadium truck class ...st.....it is build mainly for a dirt track/light terrain type setting. its kinda low to the ground and the tires arent that big.
does fine on street, dirt, gravel, small bump-jump.....but i found a bit of trouble with the grass and big rocks. i dont own an rc10gt but i have a traxxas stampede with tires just like the rc10gt factory ones.
the original tires on a stampede allow it to do alot better on rough terrain.

where do you plane on driving?

i dont know of any 4wd st other than this one
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...I=LXVA59**&P=7
but for that money youcan buy a 4wd monster truck

I agree that sounds expensive! I'll try to get more for ya later, tight on time. BTW higher content of oil INCLUDING Castor will help your engine last longer.

YOU ARE GOING TO BREAK IT! Not opinion, fact. An RC10GT would be nice for what you are describing.

Will towerhobbies ship international?? That'd be your best bet to get one. I believe the factory team has better, stronger parts on it, but its a kit, that would need to be built, and you'd need to put on your own motor and radio gear. If you don't have to buy brand new, search around these forums to find a good Rc10gt, theres a few right now.

Default cost per year?

I know I keep mentioning my Duratrax Overdrive ST but I was running it today for a couple of hours and aside from some tuning it was pretty much non-stop fun. I did a barrel roll/endo combo where the thing was crashing and rolling and skidding on its roof for about 30 feet and it eventually ended up on its wheels again and it kept going. Duratrax has those stress tech parts with 1 year guarentee but I havent broken any yet. I have broken a tie rod and a steering servo. That crash did a number on my antenna straw. The truck has 4 wheel drive, reverse and a 2 speed trans. The tires are kind of small. I might upgrade to taller ones eventually. It is very fast once the transmission shifts into second.

Normal, but WAY COOL. I like the warranty. . VIPERVIPER, RC10GT rules for dependability if parts are readily avaiable to you (2WD, I'm talkin') you can look at Losi and a couple others if you want. Read, read, read.

Im sorry, but i am 95% against duratrax. I had the ST pro, and my brother has the overdrive.... YOU ARE LUCKY!!! WE NEVER GOT OUR ENGINES TO STAY RUNNING AND WE KNOW WHAT WE WERE DOING!! They were crap. Now, the cars themselves are good, good parts, good tech support (give them an 8 outta 10) But the engines are CRAP, my little bro has a regular ST and his engine runs strong....so i guess you gotta be lucky. I would check out the RC10gt, and the XXXNT <---- i have heard good things about those too.

Default cost per year?

hi,

just to say... rc is way more expensive here in the uk. ive explored getting it from the us but with shipping the cost works out about the same. the best bet mate is to buy an r/c magazine, (you can get radio race car intenational or radio control car racer from WHS) and check out some online stores.

good luck

The HPI nitro mt is a nice truck. Not quite as big as a monster truck and has shaft drive 4 wheel drive.
