Does anyone know how easy it is to convert a HPI RS4 to a slide carbeurator instead of a rotary. My fantom .12 engine won't fit and I don't really want to go through all the hassle of returning it. If anyone has any experience converting it please tell me how easy considering I am mechanically challenged.

taking your carb on and off is as easy as it gets. on my rigs its a simple 1 screw/bolt that holds it on.
as far as changing from rotary to slide, there might be linkage issues i am unaware of since ive never done it. i will go do some research for you since i got nothign else to do.

I'm confused, is your fantom a rotary or a slide? If its a slide what RS4 do you have...When I get one I am planning on getting a slide carb, but if they don't fit I'll have to get a rotary.

Rotary for off-road, slide for on-road. If your fantom is a slide and your car is set up for rotary than you need to change the horn on your throttle servo. Most set ups I've seen use a straight horn. If you need help setting it up let me know

Rotary is used for on-road also. Some uses slide for off-road also.
Slide will give you smoother acceleration. Rotary will give you the more control on the throttle. Off-roaders do (what I heard) prefers rotatry because of the better throttle control. On-roaders do like the slide bacause of the smoother action.
HPI have a slide card linkage kit. A friend who has an RS4-3 with an RB used the linkage kit and seems to be working well.
