Default Differential Problems???

I think I might be having differential problems! I have an HPI SS and the rear wheels spin faster than the front wheels!!! This is causing my rear wheels to ware faster and is throwing the rear-end around!!! Please help! Thanks for any answers!!!

HPI made the rear diffs less stiff than the front so this maybe be the cause. Are the front wheels seem like they are even engaging, or do they just barely spin? If you want to open up the front diffs you can get some thinner diff oil to put in there, which would help it to spin easier. If you doesn't work try to take it in to your LHS and maybe you can figure it out.

Make sure the drive cups on the 2 speed transmission and the front differential are tight. If the drive cup is loose, you will lose power to the front wheels.

To test this, hold the rear tires stationary and rotate both front tires (in the same direction of course). If the center drive shaft going to the front differential is spinning, you need to tighten the drive cup on the 2 speed tranny (make sure you tighten the setscrew against the flat spot on the 2 speed outshaft).

If it isn't spinning, there's something wrong up front. Make sure the center drive cup (at the front diff case) is tight against the flat spot on the input shaft. If it is, check your front differential for damage.

Good luck.

Sometimes the little setscrew might be loose.

To check, pick up the car and hold down one of the front wheels. If the other doesnt spin "faster", you know your not getting power at all.
