I tried searching for anything referring to this but I came up with some oddball and completely irrelevant results.
so what i'm wondering is.. what is the effect of a double wrap or triple wrap on a motor arm as opposed to a single wrap?

double more rpm, triple more torque
double more rpm, triple more torque
so you're saying a 19x3 arm has more torque than a 19x2.. is that right?

A triple will have more Copper per turn than a double...so it also changes or it can change the Copper to Iron (of the stack ) ratio.
All of that needs to be balanced by the strength of the magnets...the timing, etc. etc.
It's hard to say really if a triple will work better than a double or single, because there are a lot of variables involved.

Turns is the number of times a wire is wrapped around the armature; winds is the number of strands the wire has. For example, you will see motors specified as "17T2"; this means the wire is wrapped seventeen times around the armature, and the wire is made of two strands. Assuming that everything else on the car is kept the same, a lower number of turns translates to a higher RPM. Winds deal with torque. In simplest terms, a single wind will give you generally more punch and a higher wind will give a progressively smoother pickup and a bit more top speed. Both winds and turns also affect run time
- higher number of turns and single wind will give you more run time.
- higher number of turns and single wind will give you more run time.

okay I think I understand what you're saying.
if I were to go with a 23x2 arm, I would have a slightly smoother powerband than if I went with a 23x1 arm. Am I correct?
