Default let me know if i can do it...

i bought some carbon sheets off a link a guy gave on here a while ago so i can epoxy them together to make bent cb peices for my r/c's....i know people normaly do this on foam but i could never get the right shaped or angle of bend in the foam...so i was wonderimg what if i just form the sheets onto the alloy peice im going to replace with carbon and then seperate it later...do you guys think this will work?or have any of you done it? thx

I'm not sure I understand your question. You want to bend carbon fiber sheets to make angle brackets and such? If its one thick sheet of CF its almost impossible unless you can denature the bond, reform it, and cure it again. If you have multiple paper thin sheets you can layer them with epoxy and form them over something.

ya thats what im doing. i have thin sheets that will bend up to a 2in diameter cylinder...i want to form it onto a alloy skid plate for example and when i take it off hopefully it has the same angle in the bend as the alloy skid plate.

Yeah you can do that, paint each sheet with epoxy and lay it in the shape you want. Ideally you'd want to get heat curing epoxy and bake it, but normal stuff will work fine for RC stuff.

Pretty sure you will need a releasing agent between your CF and Alloy. Roughly about 8 coats or they will stick together.

Wax paper might work too to prevent bonding of the carbon fiber and original piece.

If carbon fiber doesn't do what you want it too, you might try fiberglass as an alternative. You can buy resin kits and mesh for it and form it from scratch that way.

Depends what kind of epoxy you're using to glue the sheets together. I haven't tried every single type of glue out there but I don't think many things will stick to wax paper. I've used it for forming fiberglass resin and a few other two-part epoxies and unless there's a tear in the paper it doesn't stick at all after the glue dries.
