Hi does anyone what the power output is for a .18cxp engine cos I have a brand new HPI Nitro Star T3.0 Engine which productes a whopping 2.2PS at 31,000 RPM so of course I was thinking of fitting it into my MXT-2S Truck (I might fit a clutch bell with one more extra teeth so uping the gearing a bit) when I get it cos the engine is just collecting dust..
Specs: Displacement: 0.18 cu in (3.01cc)
Maximum Power: 2.2PS/31,000 RPM

i will try to find the exact specs on it but i am pretty sure the sh or the infinity .18 have a little more umph than the hpi nitrostart. I had one in my 3evo, the .15 and it was very unimpressive, lol. the .18 seems to be better but i dont think as good as the cxp.

information on the sh.18 with slide carb, i think hpi may be fibbing a little about their power:

Stroke 14.70 mm
R.P.M 29000 rpm
Power 1.0 hp

more info on the infinity .18 but it has the rotary but no hp:

Stroke / mm
13.5
Practical r.p.m. Range

Thanks for the info. If the cxp has a bit more power then I might forget it. However my Nitro Star engine does have a roto start backplate fitted so I can use the Super Start System (which I do have) cos I do hate the pull start LOL..

I used to like the rotostarts but now i use a bump box or a pullstart, you can always use a pullstart no matter where you are and dont have to worry about a charged battery, i hate when you want to run and you have a dead battery.

Eddie, I went to the HPI web site and here's the specs of the engine.
Glow Plug: Cold R5 (HPI #1504)
Displacement: 3.01cc
Bore: 16.8mm
Stroke: 13.6mm
Power: 2.2hp @ 31,000 RPM
Maximum RPM: 32,000 RPM
Carburettor: F2-6.5 (Composite 6.5mm)
So if you compare that to the SH.18 (which you gave me)
Cublic cpapcity 2.74 cc
Bore 15.90 mm
Stroke 14.70 mm
R.P.M 29000 rpm
Power 1.0 hp
The cc is more and so is the bore and stroke so if thats the case then it is more powerfull YEE HAAA LOL................

i really dont think that it puts out 2.2 hp, most big block 28's have that kind of power.
Here are the specs for an os cvrx .18, very powerful engine, definately more that the hpi engine. I am not bashing your engine, i have seen them and they run good but hpi's horsepower is way over rated. i run the os cvrx in a few of my rc's and i love them, they have alot of power.

OSMG2102
Displacement: 0.18 cu in (3.0 cc)
Bore: 0.629 in (16.0 mm)
Stroke: 0.590 in (15.0 mm)
Practical rpm: 3,000-32,000
Output: 1.35 hp @ 28,000 rpm
Weight: 10.4 oz (296 g)
Includes: 203 air cleaner
Requires: glow plug, manifold and muffler or tuned pipe.

OK I will do Eddie but whuch is the more powerfull one of those engines?? and will there ever be a upgrade to change the dogbones to CV UNIVERSAL DOGBONES which most trucks have cos my other truck which is a DURATRAX MAXIMUM ST TRUCK and that has CV ones fitted which makes the drive smoother..

i would say they are about equal, i have them both and i like them equally. We dont have cvd's available yet but i will definately make the suggestion.

The guy that put in the specs for the nitro star might be in jail [&o] something about something he smoked [&:] The actual HP on a TZ .18 is less than 2HP and the SH PRO is in the 1.7 area, but who knows what I'm smokin [&:]

You gotta take MFG specs with a "Grain of Salt" . Its Mostly Marketing.....
Toyota says my 4 liter Toyota V6 will get 32 MPG on the Highway.....LMAO!
Mebbe if I was drivin Down hill with the engine OFF!
A bit of Common sense is required here. This is how I see it........
All .18 RTR engines are going to be very Similar as far as performance.
High $$$ race smallblocks will , of course be more Powerful, but they are also made with High quality machining/parts as well as accessories, (good bearings, slidecarb, and sometimes matching header/Pipes), so its no surprise they make more power.
The same applies to Bigblocks IMHO.....RTR are very Similar.....Even the Race engines are mostly in the Same Ballpark with one another.....
Sure,,,some may be slightly better/faster than others, but you will only see a difference on the TRACK. And then you STILL need to be a better Driver/Setup Artist than the next guy.
If you are Bashing? Run whatever you can get your hands on at a decent Price and dont buy into the HYPE!.....IMHO
