no this is not another show off your work shop threads
this is a thread for ideas on how to make your work shop more fun to be in and to work on
I wanted to get a gutter pipe to line the outside to catch falling parts and stuff
also wanted to get a big over head florescent light so I can get rid of those two small ones that dont really light up the area to well
and also something that would be really cool was to put some street glow under the table with an old car stereo with surround sound
pictures of the shop below

Good Lord, thats a mess. [:'(]The ONLY thing you need to make it more enjoyable is some storage containers. Go to walmart and but a few of those 3 drawer white containers and your set.

looking at some lights a shelving units
I want to get this
http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00997592000P
but will probably end up settling for this because of the price
http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...9693000P?mv=rr
and then have to make or buy some more shelving just so I can clear some space for the cars cuz normally I am surround by tools and junk that can get in the way

You definitely need storage along that back wall. Go vertical, saves space.

the wall behind that gray metal table is what I have to work with
I am going to buy that smaller wall cady for my paints fuel bottel and other things that hold liquid in them
Then i am going to buy a shelf for my tools
and then make some shelves out of 2 or 3 pieces of 2x4's glued together and I am going to line them with diamond plate on the top and sides so they look cool
also thinking about doing the table the same way just not the top cuz then that would be getting way to exspencive

My Feedback: (1)
If that was my table I would hang a set of flourescent lights above it, get some old metal file cabinets to put underneath. fill some drawers with small to medium storage totes for smaller parts. put the bigger parts in the other empty drawers. I would build a shelf or 3 on the wall for bottles, chargers, and such. I would also put a power strip on one side of the bench for plugging things into. As far as the bench top goes, I would find some remnant linolium and cover the whole top with it. Then I would drill a few holes torwards the front of the bench to store my screw drivers, nut drivers, and hex drivers. Get my self a couple rubber work mats to put on top of the bench, a stool, and some tunes. I would never leave.

My suggestion would be a rack for boxes, tires, and vehicles. The one in the pic below cost me 49.99 at target and they also have them in chrome. So far my best purchase for my work area yet.

the best $5 I ever spent(it was vanilla[:@])
this is v1, I have v2 now, but no pics yet, v2 has the tools in the lid so you can carry them, and fome inside to keep them upright, and more spots for tools

I'm making my shop look "pro" [8D]
pretty much everything I have right now on the table will end up on the wall some how
here is what I have so far

my hand made shelf that I am so very proud of
for looks I'm going to line it with diamond plate

above it I have the clean up caddy w/ towel dispenser and those box's for screws and parts I guess which are all mounted on a track system so I can move them around and rearrange as I please

and above all of it I have a BIG meal shelf for even more stuff

two sets of these to hang all the stuff from
I am also going to get another thing for my tools to go into
and this over head light http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...9033000P?mv=rr
going to need to get a smaller light to illuminate the shelving cuz as is right now its pretty dark wall

i have an organizer that mounts on the wall where i put all my screws, servos, small extra parts, shock oils, misc parts. great for organization.
here's an old pic but you can see the organizer on the wall.
i would suggest getting a rolling tool box!

Btw, you guys all need a mini lathe. Check out http://www.mini-lathe.com/ and look for Harbour Freight sales. $400 is a steal. Mines a bit heavier duty than the 7x's but for $1000 and a 1" spindle bore Im happy.

Another thing you might want to consider is to buy a mid-grade 2.4GHz radio set. These usually have multi model memory, and you can dump your chump RTR radios. All you have to do is buy a RX for each other RC and that one radio will control all.

I forgot to mention: going to a multimodel radio will help your clutter by remooving all those other pistol off your workspace. One radio on the table is much cleaner than 3 or 4 on the table
