Default New Muggy Engine??

I found these two engines quite appealing for my price range. I guess I need to choose between brand and size. The first enine I was looking at was the STS D30M, seems very reasonable in price and I hear its actually quite good. Then I saw how cheap the axial engines were getting, The axial .28 1S is about the same price. Would it be worth it to sacrafice .2cc for a better name?

Here is a US STS dealer and his price is just a little cheaper.

Although I am aware that the 3 spec is supposed to be an outstanding engine if I were going to pay more money I would naturally want a larger engine. But it is still definantly worth considering. Thank you

That is true, but I have heard that the STS D30M is good for holding top end also, but I have no experience with it so I can't say for sure. My main concern would be getting a .28 and having it be under powered for the big muggy.

Do you happen to have a video of that? Is it that much better than the axial .28? Just wondering

I have had 5 STS engines and only had a problem with one of them. Some I have 5 plus gallons on them still running fine. The only one out of five I had problems with was one modified by RBmods and it never did run properly out of the box new. I do not have the 30 STS as it is not race legal. I now have 3 STS 21 for my race buggies and one .28 for my race Savage.

Yes I agree the LRP is better like all SH based engines and if you want what I hear is the best of all try the Picco .28 P3. I hope to be able to voice my opinion shortly on the Picco as mine just arrived today.

Well I've been watching videos on the 3 spec and it seems intense. That is probably at the top of my list right now. IS there a reasonably priced pipe that is well matched for the 3spec?

The Losi HT Pipe is a Good Pipe on the Spec 3 and can be had on e-bay for around $30..... A O53 is a Good match too...

All of the losi HT pipes come with manifolds for side exhaust, so it looks like I'll be getting the 053, does it matter on the brand?

Go to the HPI monster truck thread and look at some of the heavy Savages run with the Picco.

If I were to buy a nicer high performence engine would I be better off with the picco P3 .28 or the LRP 3 spec. I think the picco would have more power because it is a 9 port and the LRP is either a 6 or 8 port (I found mixed information). Seeing how they are both around the same price which one has better performence?
