Default getting it running

i have a traxxas nitro sport. i purchesed a new engine a pro .15 cause the old one was to messed up from not being ran for a few years. im asking what else should be replaced or looked at before i run it again. remember its been sitting for a few years untouched and i just want to have it running again just to play around. any input would be appriciated. thank you

I'd check to make sure your batteries can still hold a good charge, both the Transmitter and car batteries. Also make sure you get full function out of both servos before firing up you new engine, wouldn't want a run-a-away. Then just make sure it rolls freely once you get the new engine in and check for loose screws. Other than that you should be good to go. Good luck dude

The old engine would probably have been fine if you had just taken it apart and cleaned it well. I've cleaned engines that have sat for 15+ years and they still run today.

As for getting running - fresh batteries, fresh fuel, and a good cleaning and adjusting should be all that's needed. You can always find the owners manual online at Traxxas.com if you need instructions/diagrams. And don't forget to break-in that new engine.

Edit: get a couple spare glow plugs too, break-in can be hard on them.

I myself would replace the fuel lines and do as stated above all very good recomendations.

Bearings often go neglected. Just check for excessive clearence and clean them.

thanks for the advice. i will do all that. i guess i can can keep the old motor and clean it up and use it as a spare.

one more thing! how exactly would i know if i am getting the full function of a servo?
