Shock Problem?
Almost every time I drive my Rustler VXL, my shock caps always blow off when I land to hard. Is there anything I can do to make them not do that, because I have to refill them after every run?

RE: Shock Problem?
Make sure your not overfilling them as the presure might be causing them to blow off, also like sheograth said make sure there are enough hole in the piston. If that's all alright then you might wanna upgrade.

RE: Shock Problem?
When you fill the shocks, do you push the shaft up and down to get all air bubbles out then let it sit for 10 minutes? After you put it in, is the shock smooth and when you fully compress it, it moves back to half way? That is where you want it to be, where after you compress it the shock should move up a bit till it is halfway. If your shocks are balcned, you'll thank yourself by the cars performance and handling.

time for a shock upgrade.... Let me guess, you have thicker than stock oil and/or have change the pistons.... Try aluminum caps, or upgrade to big bores...

RE: Shock Problem?
This little trick might help. Tear your shocks apart, clean and rebuild them. But before you start the rebuild remove the eye mount from the shock shaft and install a small rubber o ring between the eye mount and the end cap around the shock shaft itself. What might be happening in the shock is reaching its end travel and forcing the pressure to go somewhere so the cap blows off. The o ring you just installed will help this by acting as an end stop before the piston can hit bottom and then it will cushion the blow somewhat. It’s a great easy trick that goes a long way…..Chad

....... or you can cut a small piece of fuel tube and install it on the shock shaft so that when the shaft compresses the fuel tube acts like a stopper.

RE: Shock Problem?
Don't waste your time with all these fixes, had the same problem, I could not get through one run without a popped shock. It tried every fix, in the end I found some aluminum shocks on ebay, I forgot the brand for like $30 for all 4. It's been 6 months now and the blown shock top thing has not ever happened again.
I took the aluminum shocks apart yesterday to change the oil and clean them and they were perfect.
