what type of solder do i use to solder connections? i know how to solder( i am a plumber) do i use acid core or resin core? flux core? can i get good stuff at radio shack ? it five from my house. thanks Brian

Rosin core for electronics. Can you even buy acid core anymore? I thought that stuff was banned - but you would not use it anyway because the left over acid would compromise the solder joint. I know the "new" flux you have to use for plumbing is no where near as good/strong as the old stuff but I still would not use it on batterys. If you need extra flux you can get stuff for electronics from RS too I think.
Anyway, yes, Radio Shaft will have what you need. Just be careful when soldering batterys as excess heat can damage them. Also, I'm sure you know, but use an iron, not a torch to do the batterys

lead-based rosin core, you want the lowest melting point so to not damage the batteries.

i have a gun , no torch acid core is for car radiators, you can still get it advance auto. solder is not taking , gonna try flux. thanks guys

use 60/40 rosin core solder.

Try buffing the ends of the baterys with some fine grit sandpaper. It will break the glaze and make a stronger connection too. Like soldering anything, be sure you have a clean, oil free surface to start with.
