Medusa motors..What size for 1/10
the medusa motors website goes by mm and what mm is equal to a 540 motor. are they talking about length of the motor or diameter? also, any suggestions for a good motor to go in an onroad car? probably going to be running 7 cell nimhs.

The first three digits are the diameter, the next three are the length, and the last four are the kv rating. The 540 motor equivalents are 036-050 series. The best of the V1 motors for onroad on 7 cells would probably be the 036-050-4800. In the V2(newer) series they have a 5900kv motor as well. That would be plenty fast for most people. Make sure you get the right output shaft size, because they all come in either 3.17mm or 5mm shafts.

you got it - the 4.17mm shaft is the standard for 1/10 scale. The 5mm shafts are mostly used in monster truck and 1/8 scale conversions.

Whoops, sorry about the typo there. I was typing in a hurry b/c my daughter kept going after the keyboard.[:@] As I've seen, the problem with using the 5mm shafts in 1/10 scale is that it's hard to find 64 pitch pinions with a 5mm bore, so you get stuck drilling out standard pinions sometimes. As pointed out, it's not really necessary for 1/10.

I can attest to the Medusa 50mm can motor being really good. Lots more torque compared to the Novak motors I used to run (5.5 and 3.5). Granted they have 4 poles vs. 2 poles, and I'm on 3S lipo now, but dayum, my slipper clutch is in pain now, lol.
