I recently had a discussion with a LHS owner about the possiblity of have a flying field and a race track in the same general vicinity of each other. He caustion me agianst it because of the possiblity of cars guys using aircraft channels because they may have recieved a radio from someone else.
Not knowing a lot of car guys do you think that this could be a problem? Are any of you using aircraft channels on 72 MHz?
I would like to believe that the majority of the car guys are using the proper channel?
Thanks for the input.
Ron

Please enforce them. This weekend I went to a track for the first time and I checked out 75 and then while I was cruisin in my Losi-XXX NT some punk kid threw his car down and started to drive. So 35 MPH into a wall later I am out $50 in parts cause that track doesn't care about channels much. They have the board but no one but me was using it.

put up a big sign.
"if you are responsible for frequency violations causeing property damage or personal injury,
you ARE responsible for ALL monetary loss"
otherwise, you shoot it down, you bought it.
then provide a list of acceptable frequencies (72 and 75Mhz) and frequency board.

Thanks for your input. We are just in the early planning stages right now. There is no doubt that frequency control is the key. At most of the air field that I have been at there is frequency board and they are most certainly used.
A general question - do alot of RC car guys belong to clubs? Is there an national organization for cars that is equivalent to the AMA for planes?
Thanks again.

Hi, all.
Ron,
Your track/field users should be aware that operating out-of-band is not only dangerous, but is _illegal_. (U. S. 47CFR95.207)
The gist of 95.207 is:
27 MHz band - Surface only
72.01-72.99 MHz - Air only
75.41-75.99 MHz - Surface only.
If you run into someone who just won't cooperate, a letter from the FCC can be a real wake-up call!
Cheers,
