Straight up. Most of these ideas wont work..lol

Engine size doesnt always yield more power.

For high top Speeds, what you want is more HP. Bigger displacement engines typically give you more torque.

Weight reduction will have to be given some serious thought so you can get as small a motor as possible. A .21 should more than suffice if you ask me.

Engine: Novarossi 21R "Race"
Body: Lola on a 1/8 Scale Serpent 950 should do nicely!
Servos: Lightest ones you can find
Battery: 4.8-6V Rechargeable Li-Ion if you can find one.
Wheels: DISH for reduced wind resistance.
Suspension: High 40-50wt shock fluid and medium-hard springs (you do not want to bounce!!!)
Chassis: Something ultralight and LOW (to reduce CG)

Aerodynamic tips:
Reduce lift by having the car as low as possible and trying to eleminate airflow below the car (airdams!).

I would have ONE scoop on the body that leads onto the air filter/head to cool it. At those speeds. One hole should be able to cool the engine.. IF its cut right. Turbulence can kill any such plans. Trial and error (or a windtunnel :L) can fix that.

A good spoiler can play an important role. But like someone said above, copying a good full scale's body could be your best bet.

Thats all I can think of for now. Comments are most welcome!

I an experimenting with engine designs. eg 2-strokes but be able to lean it to the moon without damage. watercooling to aid the overheating problem. cooling the fuel and air for better combustion and other methods that I aint going to tell you as it took ages to think up and i want to get a proto working and approach a model engine manufacturer and get it into production. well thats the idea.

gettin rid of the steerin servo wont work. if you get a bump big enough it can send the whole car in a diff direction. i dunno if this would would work but here it goes:
In the jet powered cars they make the wheels out of aluminum becausethe rubber ones cant handle the rpms. so you might be able to get aluminum wheels and just hook the engine up directly to the driving wheels. the only problem i foresee is getting grip with the aluminum wheels

on the mach 1 british car the wheels were titanium and the tires were carbon fiber, because rubber would rip apart at that speed. i havent started any work yet. My reasoning behind 2 motors is simple. just adding a second motor wont help speed much, but i will have power to gear down and accelerate to speed in a reasonable amount of space. a bigger motor (.90) will work the same way with gearing down, but will weigh much more than 2 higher reving .21s.

You should buy a schumacher nitro fusion to start out with , the go eighty mile per hour out of the box , so you would just have to get custom made gears , it is already a three speed so making bigger gears should make it
go up in the trible digits, if not u could buy or custom make parts to make the car lighter , get a new body with lots of downforce , you could even buy a new motor with more horse power and higher rpm.

DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT IS GOING TO BE TO CONTROL THAT THING?????????????????
THE NITRO FUSION OUT OF THE BOX GOES EIGHTY AND THATS REALLY HARD TO CONTROL , AND HARD TO FIND ENOUGH SPACE TO RUN IT .

if its just for speed try the nitro fusion by schumacher!!!!!!

GOOOOOOOD LUUUUUCK

Anything is possible.

It just depends on how hard people are willing to try to get it to work.

Why is everybody downplaying torque like it's a bad idea? Torque is what pushes you in your seat and keeps it charging forward. Ever try to top out a real car? Notice how there will be a point where air resistance overcomes the forward force of the car? When you hit this "wall of air", you basically ran out of torque.

Now with 2 engines of course the maximum rpms is gonna be the same, but the running conditions it will yield more dynamic rpms. And since you're doing custom gearing anyway of course you're gonna gear this car to the moon. This is where torque comes into play. You can push a tall gearing that no single engine setup could ever do!

Big engines = Big speed period! Look at the Z05 and the Viper. Big displacement V8's and 10's. Those cars have big torquey engines to push big speed. It's crazy how their first gear stretches all the way out to near 60... because they can with all that torque.

and the z06 and viper are heavey and dont stop or turn for $h!t. porsche all the way.

anyway, i think you should build your own custom chassis, gears, etc or have someone make it for you. titanium chassis maybe. the engine you can buy, run a high percent nitro?? i think im on the right track here...

As for a tranny, what if you used TWO 2 speed trannys? Wouldn't that make it a four speed? Or THREE trannys?

Geez the possibilites are endless (But money... Ahhh, that could be different!)!

naw i dont think it will be a four speed cause in order for it to be a four speed it has to have four different pinion sizes and spurs.

i like the idea of using two engines and massive gearing, bear in mind that in terms of tires you want some serious #### cause other wise your gonna have no rubber on them (ballooning) also bear in mind that weight does affect speed in terms of contact patch in the tires as this is directly related to the drag.
Porsche do i hear you say????? pppllllleeeezzzz: ruf (tuned up porsches, serious performance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Porshces are nice but the C5 does the same for practically cheaper. The C5 is rated as one of the top handling performance cars for the money so I don't know where you get off the fact that it can't turn and stop. The skidpad, saloom, roadholding marks are pretty high up there with the other more "expensive" cars. The Z06 will run in circles around your average grocery go getter i.e. honda which are still fixed up with 10k+ in mods...

Back to the subject, I suggest you put 2 siro .27's in there for bucket loads of torque.

For the money of a porsche you could buy a mustang cobra R for $30,000 which already runs high 11's and low 12's in a quarter mile so you have $70,000 to play around with. Imagine how fast you could make that.
