Default Battery ?

Why are rechargeable AA batteries only 1.2 volt and standard non rechargeable batteries 1.5 volt?

Thanks

1. You will find the actual output on a "1.5V" battery is 1.2V
2. A 5 battery rechargeable 'hump back' will output 6.0V (1.2V x 5) which is safe and effective voltage for your servos

different chemistry = different voltage.

A fully charged nimh cell is really closer to 1.4v

Yeah, that's why your transmitter can actually get 12 volts with a 8 cell pack.

Yeah, Alkalines give a little over 1.5v when fully charged, and NiMh only give about 1.2 to 1.3v, so you'd need 5 of them to compete with a 4-cell Alkaline pack.

The thing about that theory UGOTBANNED is that a 4-cell Alkaline pack DOES NOT put out as much power as a Nimh 5-cell pack.

I don't think Alkalines put out a full 1.5v when you use them, maybe when, like you said, fully charged.
