I bet Tamiya will release some kind of CVDs for this bad boy!

As well as companies such as Tobee, 3Racing, etc.
Probably could use some from a diff kit, but that would be nice!

I don't know what Tamiya engineers were smoking when they came up with this.. It is awesome looking.. and I am sure it works okay.. but just seems that individual shocks are easier to implement, etc.

Must be like, "hey, I bet you can't come up w/ something that's more complicated than what I did last time".. ha!

Early cantilever suspension, horizontal movement is dampened while roll is dampened mainly by the sway bar.

Argh!! So you need a bunch of 5x11 and 5x8?

ORIGINAL: Lunchboxer

Does the kit come w/ full ballbearings?
No, it has the two thrust bearings and five 5x11.

You answered your own question. Tamiya has a way of making things look cool, futuristic while sacrificing function. I like it just the way it is and it makes for an interesting build.

13-5x11 and 5-5x8

I just order the bulk Duratrax from Venture since they stock Boca bearings, like $4 each or something![X(]

I hear ya... was just saying.. I am not knocking it at all.. I wouldn't want it any other way!! But just curious on how they just decided to go w/ the "harder" route.. LOL!

I know you're not, LOL.

The Super Shot has the standard shock set up.

The front shock works well, but the rear shock may need to be worked on after everything is done. I will have to see how it runs first.

Nice build pics Tex, keep 'em coming. Have you found any excessive slop in any of the suspension components?

No slop noted in the suspension, very tight actually(where it should be).

Brass piston guide on the bottom of the shock. Tamiya includes extras.

No slop in the suspension, but there is slop in the dampener. The head of the shock sits in the mount as shown. There is a small gap which allows the shock to move back and forth which I found out after I assembled one. I used two washers out of a shim kit, it has many different thicknesses of washers. A few minutes later and the shocks are nice and tight.

Front and rear shocks installed. The rear shock needs some help, I will see how it performs at running weight.

On to the electronics, it's pretty tight in there eh? Had to trim the radio box to allow for all the wires required for brushless.

The Hotshot has a cool mean look to it. I wish the newer buggies did too instead of the same old cookie cutter type. I guess that is why Tamiya re-released the HS, change it up a bit.

Yeah, I agree. Thats one of the reasons I love the Baja 5b so much, it looks more like a "buggy". This thread is dangerous for me though, I'm really on the verge of ordering one lol.

FRP battery plate has foam tape applied to it as well as the battery compartment.

The Hotshot kit includes a U-shaped wire for use as a car stand in junction with the battery plate. Pretty nifty!

Is that battery pack held together with electrical tape?

Uh, going to definitely increase this turning radius. Have to move the ball connectors in on the steering knuckles.
