RE: Tamiya TA-03F Resource Thread!
Hey LB! Here you go. This is my TA03F Dave Jun Edition car. I've added the carbon battery holder and some titanium screws. Other than that the car is basically kit stock. It dodn't come with a body and this was one I had lying around, not my first choice but it works. There's a couple of little things I'd like to get for it but parts are getting hard to come by so I'm done for now. Check out the pics below, I hope you like.

NICE!! Looks awesome!! You ever tried to run them?! Would be interesting to hear your thoughts on how they perform compare to maybe the modern chassis?!

Thanks LB. I appreciate the kind words. About how they run...I think it's like comparing apples to oranges. I've driven the TA03F Pro, pictured on Lee's TA03FS thread and the 415MSXX and there is really no comparison. The newer car is able to carry way more speed through the corners than the 03. The newer cars accelerate faster and run more effeciently than the 03, there's no gear box, front or rear, basically a center pullery running to a diff in the rear and a spool in the front. Your able to adjust way more the car as well. However, that being said there is something about running a car that is more simple, you wont loose yourself in adjustments and I think you'll get more runs overall in a day with an 03 than with a 415. Why, because there's only so much you can tune on an 03, the rest is simply driving. Just my .02 cents.

Does anyone have any black TA03 suspension arms for sale or know where I can find some? I'm looking everywhere and all I seem to find are gray arms.

No problem.. you do have a beautiful collection.. (in great / new condition) I am definitely not as a hardcore collector as you!
Glad that you actually drive some of them, though!! Looks like there's no match for the modern chassis! But I hear you about sometimes it is more fun to drive a simple car as there's less adjustment to mess around about. Just drive!!
Can you post your TA-03F Pro pics here too?! I think Lee is working on a TA-03R S.. not the "F"..
I need to build up my regular TA-03F.. are there any mod that you think is absolutely needed?! This won't be a race car or anything.. Usually for all my cars, I'd have full ballbearing and aluminum motormount and heatsink on the motor at the minimum. But on the TA-03F, it doesn't look like there's a way to do a heatsink, right?! How about motormount?!

Hey LB, The TA03F has an aluminum motor heat sink as a Hop-up option. If you look at the DJ car above you’ll see an aluminum cover over the gearbox where the pinion meets the spur. That’s one. The other is an aluminum plate that replaced the motor biscuit (that’s the little paper washer that goes on the face of the motor to keep the plastic from distorting under heat), I would get both of these. Your best bet is to check E-bay.
I’d also recommend getting a set of shocks and the aluminum pulleys. I use to get belt skip on mine back in the day, but when I switched to the aluminum pulleys that helped out a ton. Oh ya, and an aromid fiber belt. That also helps a bunch. Those would be the basics I would start with. The TA03 as a whole had quite a few hop-up options available back in the day.
I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions. I’ll do my best to point you in the right direction. I’ll post up the pics of the TA03F a little later.
Cya!

You are the man! Thanks!
The shocks will be easy -> just get a set of TRF shocks and be done with. The other hop-ups might be hard to locate, unfortunately! [:@]

I wish I could take credit for that, but I can't. This body was one of the first few Tamiya started pre-printing. Meaning all those little light grey parts where printed on the lexan while it was still a flat sheet. Then the body was vacume formed and the blue was painted on the nose. Then they would sticker up the windows, hood and other applicable stickers. It's a really cool process. They did a couple of body's that had a carbon fiber print also, one was an MRS2 and the other was the Alteza. They looked baller when they where all stickered up. Now that I think about it they did a Ferrari for the F201 that had the carbon print. I still have that one.

It is hard to say.. but I know my 5,000mAh pack w/ hardcase is not going to fit without some modification.. but most of the 3,000-4,000mAh pack without hardcase are smaller than the standard stick pack, and those should fit easily!!

Thanks for the info!
I'm hoping the Team Orion hardcase lipo will fit, but it looks like I'll have to find someone with one to test fit it.

any ideas when this build will finally commence??!
and why do bigger capacity lipo's have to come in a (hard) case? we shouldnt have to modify our older cars to run these [:@]

LOL! Let me finish the TB-01 build first...
I don't think all bigger capacity LiPo comes in a hard case.. just that the one I got does, that's all... and because of the hard case, it has square edges.. and most of these older chassis are designed to accept stick packs that have round edge...

Got this coming in.. looks like a used TA-03F chassis.. (no shell) Maybe make this into a runner!!
Hopefully it is pretty complete!

Just e-mailed you about the price.. it does not have the shell, just the chassis.. and the previous owner said he does not know much about it, since he got it as part of a trade or auction lot..
I hope the chassis is complete and will need nothing to get it going.. I will then make it a runner!
