Official Radio Shack Golden Arrow Thread
I really need your help here. I snapped a rear axle and am having a hell of a time trying to find another one. I thought I had one but it ended up being a set for a Grasshopper and those are not compatible due to a different over all differential set up.
I called Radio Shack Corp office and spoke to the parts department. They DO still have a few parts available for the GA but unfortunately NOT the axles. Traxxas The Cat/Spirit/Tom Cat all use the same exact axles as the GA part # 1246 but Traxxas doesn't have them in stock. Traxxas hasn't discontinued them yet but doubts they will be making any more. I would assume there are other models out there that use the same ones as the GA such as Nikko Rhino or maybe even the Sears Super Lobo but again I cant find any.
If ANYbody has a parts car or an axle lying around PLEASE let me know. I really want to get this back up and running.
just a thought wouldnt a tamiya lunchbox gearbox
replace the gearbox for the GA
or isnt the tamiya hornet the same as it seems to be the same everywhere else
Yeah as a matter of fact this GA originally has that gear box on it when I bought it but when I swapped out to a brushless and lipo that gear box blew up like no ones business. Believe it or not the GA gear box design is MUCH more stout then the Tamiya counterpart. The body of the box itself is gusseted in more places and the plastic is a little thicker. Also the stock spider gears in the GA are metal vs plastic in the Tamiya. The other thing is the GA gear set has less moving parts therefore less to fail.
On an UP side, I just got off the phone with one of my local HS and they have the traxxas part 1246 in stock!!!! original price of 4.50 all day long baby!!!

Ihave a Red Arrow buggy that Iwould like to get going again for my 8 year old son. Ineed some rims and tires for it and they are proving almost impossible to find. Where do you guys get parts for your machines?
Ilove this car and still works great despite being almost 25 years old. This will make a great car for my son to start on.
Any info will help.
Thanks Guys
Steve
Not sure about the RedArrow but if the spindle is the same then it will fit.
Or take it to a hobby shop and they'll get something on it.
forgot to mention, one sagitta is completely stock and the other has a traxxas velineon setup in it and the bushings replaced with bearings
I just dug it out of a corner a couple days ago.
Its steering servo is destroyed and the rear tires have collapsed where it was sitting. I also have no batteries for it, but its complete otherwise.
I'm sure people will like this since I had it handy (Radio Shack, 1992, pg 161):
