Default dirt naps and effect on servos

I built a spad gnat with 15xl for ssc hoping to stir interest in our club, it's a kick to fly I can do things I would never do with a balsa plane. My question is,with the servos hanging in the breeze, all get covered with oil and goo& when I land or take a dirt nap as I did today( inverted over runway up is down / wait oops OOOH NO MR. BILL ) the servos attract that dirt like a magnet. any how my questions are 1 how long can I expect my servos to last ,2 what can I do to protect/extend life of same( I know don't crash&don't land ha ha ) thanks cal.45acp

I have a mounted servos in the breeze and goo path for almost 5 years now and some are still running strong, the dead ones were not a result of invading residue just dumb thumb impact death. They look bad but the mung and dirt make an effective seal, no worries in the rain

Yep, I've had servos fail for all kinds of reasons, but stuff getting inside because the servo is mounted externally has never been one of them. (someone's prop, firewall, or other part, on the other hand...)
