What are you doing on a local level and how is it working? Looks like we've got some Slasher class combat going down here. We now have three clubs in my area involved and it looks like it could be a pretty big thing. We found some very good prices on the kits at a local hobby shop thanks to one of our pilots. Thanks Charles!

That sure would be real fun to see. I myself have the Ripper and it flys awsome. Everyone flying the same plane would sure point out the good pilots. I wish combat was a little more popular over here though.

Try living out west, there are few pilots flying combat, that I can find. The rippers are tearing up the cloroplast planes. What we lack in speed we make up in durability. We took out three flying wings with 25's on them with our slow flyers.

I can totally agree with you caverjoe... Its not the fastest plane of the bunch, but man it can really hold up well. When i was trying to find the best way to handlaunch the plane it took some might nasty spills. Dust it off and let it go again. I remember having a nasty midair with another guy, the 2nd plane chopped my servo wires and I fell to the ground. Plane still in one piece. Nice little chuck took out the wing at the LE but still flew wonderfully.
The only thing i dont like is the sub-vert stab. I dont know how many i had to fix it and put back on. Plane still flys good without though..

We're not all that fast. We spin a 10x3 prop, that keeps the speeds way down so damage is low. I find the bigger motors to be more user friendly and less fragile, plus we don't have to spin them at HIGH RPM's to get the planes to fly well.

10x3 prop is a quite big prop. Currently im using a 7x4 on .15cva and a 8x6 for SSC.
True that the damage is small with the slower flying plane. Easier on the wallet. So, 1Jimbo what is the outlook on the slasher combat event? Any luck? I may just buy the bigger brother and join in on the action. Would so be awsome to see..

It seems the best combo is the OS.25FX with a 10x3 APC prop. We have a 15.5K RPM limit. We have 9 pilots with Slasher kits. Some have been flying them and some are building them now. I'll keep you posted as more join on.

Here a question??? We are having more mid airs than ribbon cuts!! Since the planes all fly the same speed (no cheating allowed) we tend to come on to each other head on, or in dives. I guess we need training.

flying combat is harder then people think. I remember my first combat event. Oh man that wasn't pretty. I either got my ribbon snatched within the first minute of combat and once i try to get a cut I cause a horrific midair.

caverjoe how long have you been flying combat ? Do you fly with the same guys most of the time? Flying at the same speeds is not the cause of midairs, but if you really believe that than don't. It took me a while to learn how to avoid a lot of midairs. If you fly with the same guys a lot try to pay attention to their habbits, most pilots have them. It will help you get more streamers and avoid a lot of midairs. Don't stay in a turning contest more than two loops before you break off and re-engage.

I just got a Slasher and I am running a O.S. 25 fx with a 9x6 prop. It flew very well. I had a SPAD before this one, I crashed it while trying to catch a crow with it, but anyhow the Slasher flies smoother and faster, but is a tad bit more expensive. There are about 5-6 of us at our club that fly combat.

Cliff the body is almost unbreakable and the wings are VERY strong. If you have 6 guys flying them you can get 12 complete wing kits(2 for each person) for $29. each. You have to buy 12 to get that price but that's not bad.

Jimbo, I haven't flown with you for a while,,,,,,but I hadn't noticed you avoiding a lot of midairs.

Or was it just the Raptors that were prone to midairs[X(]

I've gotten better at it Cajun. I know I was the KING of midairs for a while. I flew 13 up at Paris for 6 rounds with not even a wing tap. The number of midairs has also fallen why down with my club combat. I have learned to pick my spots and not be over aggessive.
