A few of us at Bayside R/C here in Fremont Ca. got together to fly our World Air Combat planes with Magnum 36 engines for the first time.
There are five of us at present and soon to be nine and I'm sure there will be more judging by the amount of intrest at the field today. When we were in the air, all activities stopped and everyone cheered and yelled. We had no cuts, no midairs, not even a drape and still had a lot of fun. We're using the official black streamers, 10 and 30.
These little planes are very fast for what we're are use to and the engines run great.

Welcome to your new addiction!!

Combat is more addictive than cocaine. Look up other clubs in your area and get some club combat going. And find an RCCA event near you to attend, even if you don't fly in the first one. It's more fun than a barrel of monkeys!!

Hey Bill, I finished my bat this weekend and would like to try it at
the field soon! I'll need a good hand launch cause it seems a little heavy for the wing area. Get back to me so you can be there to
see my glory or disgrace. Phill

Don't know what kind of "bat" you are using, but go to the spad site and try the "flat bat". I fly it all the time and it is competative. I use a 48" RNAF dogfighter wing and it is very tough. I've survived as many as 12 mid airs in one match. It held up to a straight on wing to wing with a bandit. Turned a 720 in the air and kept flying. When I landed, the wing was "cocked" at about 45 degrees, but it was not damaged.
If you can, get the black flat bat, they are mouch tougher than the teal one. With a Norvel .25 and mousse can, it will keep up with most of the "B" planes out there.
Good luck.

spad originals - flat bat

Default Too fast?

This is the second weekend we've flown combat, what a BLAST!!!
I got shot down twice today, one cut was two feet from my tail.
I really think these planes are too fast for combat with the Magnum 36 engines. These planes are extremely maneuverable and I'm amazed they stay together, haven't snapped a wing or a stab yet.

Sunday: The club Prez and I had our first midair today destroying both planes. The combined speed had to be around 150 mph, what a noise it made. Of course mine had to crash on the runway from about 200 feet with most of the right wing missing.
Destroyed my receiver and the engine turns over real hard but we already have replacements. This is too much fun!
