Default Forestry Suppliers Streamer Material...anyone use it?

I just spent 20 bucks on 6 rolls of the biodegradable forestry streamer they have a link to on the RCCA web site. I just got it. It looks really pretty, but man this stuff is much harder to tear/break. Does anyone use this stuff? Does it work? I just cant see a plane being able to rip this stuff.

Please let me know.

Yes, we have used it a few times. It is harder to get cuts when using it. But, slicing it lengthwise helps that a lot (and is RCCA legal).

Here's a link to a "Flagging Tape Splitter":

I've only used it once in a contest. It was harder to cut in the air, and the scores were a lot lower as a result. It was an A class contest though, I think the bigger, faster planes wouldn't have as much trouble with it. I suspect it would be rather funny with SSC planes, however.

Yes, the streamer actually stopped this engine in flight:

If the air is real damp it is the only thing that will work as crepe just falls apart. We like it for practice with SCC as it lasts a long time. You can see when you get it draped over the wing and it pulls the plane around! Saves having to land for new streamers all the time! AS stated if you split it in half it cuts a lot easier. Neat hing is that you can reuse it also. We pick up the remnants and tie them together.

Default Streamer width

I thought the streamers had to be 5/8 to 4/3" in width. What is the rule on this?

"4.7 Streamers and string are provided by the CD to ensure uniformity. Crepe paper and cotton string are recommended. Streamers will be thirty (30) feet long and no less than five-eighths (5/8) inches wide and no more than one (1) inch wide, attached to the model by a cotton string extending at least five (5') feet from the tail of the model. (At the discretion of the Contest Director, alternate streamer materials not meeting these specifications may be used if weather conditions prevent the use of standard streamer material)."

The RCCA rules are posted here:
