I'm just lloking for a more casual combat environment (if it is possible). I'm fascinated with the idea and would like to try my hand at it. I don't have a motor smaller than .40, but i do have some corro and can build a corro combat plane with a .40 and if it's something i enjoy i can probably find areal combat airplane and more appropriate motor. anyway are there any combat groups in the greater KC area I am in Waldo if that helps anyone. I am willing got travel a litle while if i can get in some combat action. currently working on a spa3d which is probably what i would use for right now.
on a side note if anyone knows a good rc club in the south KC area drop me a line i've been out of the hobby for a long time and am finally getting back into the swing of things.

Hi Alden,
Welcome to r/c combat! [8D] It's a blast for sure.
One thing I would recommend is flying combat with .15's or .25's. The planes are just-as or more competitive with the small motors if designed for them. When two .40 engines hit head-on, it's not pretty, believe me!
I fly mainly the popular .15-size SSC class because the equipment is cheaper and everything is even more survivable, but there is also a ton of activity with .25's in "limited B."
The principle behind both of these classes is that the minimum weight means you can build a really durbale plane, and the max RPM prevents an arms-race, so it's all about each guys' flying and not who's got a super-hot engine. Except for official 'sanctioned contests', we fly informal club combat, just going up for cuts and have a great time!
Tie on a streamer and let's get at it!

Don't know if you got any info on clubs in the area yet. From where you are in Waldo the closest ones would be either at Lake Jacomo, with KCRC, or at Longview Lake rc sport flyers. I fly down at Hillsdale lake with the RC Barnstormers.

edited to add, we don't have any combat down at the Barnstormers.
