Default bl drift setup help

hi guys,
i have the thunder tiger sparrowhawk dx and i was thinking of hopping up the motor and esc.
this is what i had in mind,
motor:<a href="http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&amp;item=260648212766&amp;s sPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_3683wt_1139">http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...ht_3683wt_1139

</a>esc:<a href="http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&amp;item=250745127635&amp;s sPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_4586wt_1139">http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...ht_4586wt_1139
or: <a href="http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&amp;item=180606839099&amp;s sPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_5672wt_1003">http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...ht_5672wt_1003

<u>i was thinking of getting a larger amp esc in case i ever decide to stick 12cell nimh on it. is it stupid to use a larger amp esc for 'just in case' scenarios??

if anyone knows of any good deals going on, i live in malta, europe so its not always that U.S. shops or any others in fact ship to malta. anyway.

can anyone please comment??

thanks

You need a certain amount of power to drift with, but not excessive amounts. 2S LiPo (or 7 cell NiMh) is more than enough.

Most important is the ability to program the ESC. You want smooth, not raw, power. Smooth power delivery will be of much more benefit in drift. You can tailor the ESC for that if the ESC is programmable.

As for shipment to Malta, you should ask every seller you go throughif they ship there. Some will, some won't, I expect, but since most here don't live where you do, I don't think they will be of much help in that department.

thanks for the replies. in the listing it says :<div><span style="font-family: arial; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 2px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 2px; font-size: small; "><p style="margin-top: 0cm; margin-right: 0cm; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-left: 0cm; " class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 11pt; " lang="EN-US"><font size="2">3 running modes (Forward mode, Forward/Reverse mode, Rock Crawler mode).
4 steps of maximum reverse force adjustment.
Proportional ABS brake function with 4 steps of maximum brake force adjustment, 8 steps of drag-brake force adjustment and 4 steps of initial brake force adjustment.
<font color="#FF0000">9 start modes (Also called "Punch") from "very soft (Level 1)" to "very aggressive (Level 9)".</font>
8 steps of timing adjustment to suitable for all brushless motors.
Multiple protection features: Low voltage cut-off protection / Over-heat protection / Throttle signal loss protection / Motor blocked protection.
Firmware updatable, but always with zero timing.</font></span></p><div><span style="font-size: 11pt; " lang="EN-US"><font size="2"><font color="#000000"> so i guess it would be fine if i put it on to level 3 or something. </font></font></span></div><div><span style="font-size: 11pt; " lang="EN-US"><font size="2"><font color="#000000">as for the motor i guess it is a bit on the powerful side but i am going to be changing the setup to 'track bashing' sometimes so i wouldnt mind having some more power probably. anyway it doesnt cost that much so i can just downgrade a bit and use this motor in something else.</font></font></span></div><div><span style="font-size: 11pt; " lang="EN-US"><font size="2"><font color="#000000">
</font></font></span></div><div>regards posting i put that in because most guys reply with links from US pages and most dont send to malta so that is why i added it in. but yeah, thats what i end up doing mostly. ask if they ship here and so on.</div><div>
</div><div>thanks for the replies.</div><div>dave</div></span></div>
