well, i have a Tamiya TL-01 car on my shelf with no electronics, and is waiting for x-mas. it already has a lightweight chassis, speed tuned gear, spare rims, bearings, and no body. i have the LRP Runner Plus ESC and a Venom 17t motor under the xmas tree. i heard higher turns are better, but forgot about it when i order the 17t venom motor. i will be getting the 2000mAh 6 cell pack from my E-Zilla and will be using those packs. now all i need are good tires, and a body. i am thinking about the PVC method, and planning on getting some in my local home depot. for the body, i have no clue on what to use. i havent found one and i surely need one. any suggestions for that? any will do.

ok the egnine should be fine. you might have a problem cuz torque.
also get a 3000mah pack. 2000 will last for 15 min then the battery will slow down. 3000 will last for about 45.
i say ebay for the tires. precut and black. pvc are usually greyish.(more realistic look.

I have a TL-01, and it's such a better drifter than my TT-01(that's why i'm selling my TT-01).
Anyways, three suggestions.
1. Venom Fireball motors are crap. And besides, it's 17 turn. You won't be happy drifting with that(If you CAN initiate a drift with a 17 turn...). Get a p2k2 pro motor, Revenge of the Monster, Epic 27t, Some other 27t motor.
2. The speed tuned gears are geared too low for drifting. I have speed tuned gears, and since your motor is almost always running without any resistance due to the piped wheels, your motor will get hot even faster with lower gearing. So IMO, put your stock gearing on. You can try it though with the speed tuned gears, but your motor will probably get hot quickly.
3. If you live in the US, get ABS piping(PVC at home depot is usually white, while ABS is usually black). ABS is a softer compound than PVC and gets a better "appropriate" grip.
Also for a shell, get a 180sx, a 22B, or an FC. Or just try and get a shell in which no one else has... Actually, not many people have R34s, surprizingly...

FC= 2nd Gen RX7.
oonoiroo: Mind elaborating on the difference between your tt-01 and tl-01 and why you feel the tl is a better drift car?

I think something was wrong with the TT-01 I got though. The turning was a bit short(the radius wasn't that big), and it would sometimes spin out when I was countersteering during a drift. My two TL-01s don't. Nor does my pro 3, and that's on ball differentials. And because of that, it pissed me off and I didn't like it lol.
Now I have two TL-01s, and they can race, rally, off-road, and drift. Not competitivly though, except for drifitng.
