First off seems how you are asking what car to get nitro would not be a good choice. It is hard to tune and very expensive. And I would reccomend you start off with a tt-01 or tl-01. Leaning towards the tt-01. The tl-01 is however cheaper.

I owned a couple tl-01's in the past but now I own TT-01 and I would much rather go with the tt-01. TL-01's aren't as reliable in my opinion.

Well there are planty of guys who vouch for etheir. I have a tt-01 and its a great choice. On the other hand ask magnat. He know's a couple guys who love there tl-01's. I would have to say get a tt-01 if you can afford the extra cash.

The TL-01 Slides fiie
Same mods you can do to the TT-01 can be done to the TL-01 ( they use different parts but the Outcome is the same.)
em x 6 racer is dead on, Dont go nitro..
Its a noob mistake to think that Nitro is better but they over look what the demands are of drift..
So why is Electric better for Drift??
1.Running Costs are Way Lower, a $30 Battery will out last $30 of Nitro
2. The On and off throttle Demands of Drift tend to Over Heat and upset Nitro motors, the servo on a Nitro motor gets a really Big work out when drifting a Nitro, a Nitro can be drifted but they dont like it
3.Think of Motor Costs.. Drift wears out motors... An Electric has a Motor, ESC and Spur and Pinions. Replacement Costs $200.. A Nitro has Spurs, Pinions, Gear box and Not to mention the motor Replacement Costs $400+
4.Noise is another factor, Most Indoor circuits dont have the ventilation facilities to cope with Nitro and dont allow them to run...
You also can t hold "Illegal Drift Meets" with a Nitro as everyone will hear it and security will move you on in no toime.. an Electric is quiet and most of the time security will let you stay as you are not causing any kind of annoyance..
5. Torque is the Key to Drift, a Niitro motor generates most of its Torque in the Mid-High Rev Range, and Electric generates Torque in the Low- Medium Rev range... So it is Easier to Bust into a Slide and Control the slide at a Lower Speed then Nitro, Ideal for Technical Drifts
6.You can use PVC or ABS Tyres on an Electric in a Small Area to Drift...
A Nitro needs Double the Room in order to drift Sucessfully.
My Advise is to attend a Few RC Drift Meets, Do the research and then make up Your own mind..
$400 will get a Great Electric but only a laughable Nitro..
The TT-01 is my choice for Drift due to its Covered Pinion and Spurs, You could Drift in a Gravel pit and it wont be affected by stones..
In this Day and Age with New Brushless Systems, the Age of the Nitro's Champion of Speed is coming to an end.. and in Drift, Speed is not essential Torque is..
