1. I use a stanley knife
2. ABs is better than PVC, yoko single rings are best but expensive, Tamiya's are too grippy, ABS is best value for sliding with a bit of grip.
3. Something like a 58/22 is good for Sport tuned.
4. Yes, you need to drill holes for a licence plate to mount the muffler, wipers are ok, mirrors depend on the shape of shell you put them on, will prob be ok.
5. I would say no, its far too much cash to clip a kerb and wreck, jus get some Speedway 37r's or something and keep the change, a lot of it!

here's a TT-01 with the yokomo wiper, muffler kit on. ABS is dirt cheap, works great,...agreed with gearing, 58/21-22,..aluminum are great for shelf queens,...but not practicle in my opinon for running.

Dont Cut them, If You cut them then you will have Very limited Shell selection
2.PVC,ABS, Yokomo Drift Rings Tamiya Type D tires which is best or ae they generally the same?
ABS/Black Polypipe Offer best Slip for Grip, If You really want to have Authentic looks and some High Speed fun on a Polished Concrete Floor then go the rift Tyres
3.What type of Spur gear and Pinion should I use with the Tmaiya RS-540 Sport tuned motor in my TT-01?
I Use The Stock 19/61 Ratio in my TT-01 and it handles my 10x2T Motor with Ease and Very little Heat Build up and Is Great for Drifting.
4.Does the wiper, muffler and mirror set from yokomo fit well on a Tamiya TT-01 Body?
Yes. they will fit most Shells
5.are alluminum wheels worth it (besides the look)
I Find Plastic Wheels do the job fine, If You mean Aluminium as in Chrome Plated Rims? then I have discovered that over time the Chrome Chips off leaving an Ugly looking Rim..
