Default Practice makes you good...not the chassis

So, the team is getting ready for D1GP, the 1st week in May, so we thought we'd get in some runs today and do a photo shoot, etc... Well, Justin (RS4) has the TT01 and a 19t motor and he drifted circles around the ENTIRE TEAM with our MR4TC's, TC4's, SSG's, and the like. Granted, he's been practicing 10x's the amount of time the rest of us have...but, I say that to say chassis and setup isn't as important as actual seat time with your ride. Now, once we got adjusted to the track, everyone did pretty well. I was actually getting quite a few clean drifts in towards the end, but with my 35t motor, I couldn't begin to keep up with Jus and his 19t. Even when I was clean, he slaughtered me on speed. Hen and his brushless kept up with him for a bit, but Jus was clearly the DK (Drift King) of the day. Earn's car was plagued with problems most of the day, as was mine with my motor (i swapped in a 19t but blew it before I could get used to it, forcing me to drop back down to the 35t).

All in all, it was a pretty fun time, but it's clear that practice does make perfect. Not to be outdone, but Jus ended up breaking a rim (or two) and trickled off towards the end. Even then, he was still a MONSTER!!!! Nice job team.

Yeah. It was a lot of fun. The 35t is the stock motor that comes with the Yokomo DP. I was hoping to run the 19t until I got a brushless setup, but my dreams were quickly dashed to bits when the gears began some UBER strippage and the motor began to feel like hot coals.

DAH WELL. Another motor...she'll love me in the morning.

The 19t was trinity. But, like I said, it's no more. So, until I get another one, it's the 35t. I'm upgrading my gears too, since before the 19t blew, it did quite a number on them.

Nice,

With 35t u should have enough tork to almost drift with rubbers EH?

No. Not a 35t. With the 19t I'm getting, I might. The higher the turn, the lower the torque, to my understanding. I may be wrong tho. However, I know the 35t isn't powerful enough for rubber.

umm other way, more tourq less rpm's more turns; more rpm less tourq less turns

oh. well, i still stand by my statement of it won't happen with a 35t. Aaaaaactually, now that I think about it, I've ran rubber on there before. I used to use Yok tires all the time before I knew of ABS pipe. Soooo, yeah. I could do hard rubber compound with plastic in the middle. I don't think I could do just regular rubber tires tho.

not exactly practice makes perfect.

More like perfect practice makes perfect. If someone is practicing and doing the drifts wrong, hes just practicing to be bad at drifting. Just my .2 cents.

Extremly good point!,

But some of us dont have any1 to teach them,

We should setup an RC drift School on the web or something(with vids and tuts)!
