Problem drifting

So I am trying to learn to drift but I keep on spinning out. I have my rear diff locked but not the front one and I notice I loose power to one of the front wheels when I enter a drift. This usually results in me spinning out. Sometimes both front wheels stay turning and I can do it. Do you think I still need more practice or should I try locking the front diff?

The main rule with drifting is throttle control it does take a while to get nailed,u could try locking the front but just use putty or something u can take back easy,everyones drifting is different same as car setups,so its hard to explain the best way lol
the way i do it is like this as the back end creeps round i increase the throttle and keep the angle while adjusting the front wheel angle.
that might not make much sense reading but it works for me,like i said throttle control is key here,learn to slowly sweep the speed instead of quick boosts of speed i use sticks and i find alot easier than a pistol but then again everyone drives different.
And pratice makes perfect m8 it took hours and hours trying to nail a perfect sweeping drift like the ones you see on the vids,keep at it cos pratice makes perfect as they say

it would either invest in a ball diff for the front, or put some puddy in there so that if you spin one tire the other turns with it , but not completely locked. its hard to explain and easier to do with a ball diff. Cuz right now yours is too loose, and with double spools in a tt01 the cars are super twitchy and hard to switch back on.

Inspect your car, look and see if the Hex pins are all in..
You shouldn't have a problem at all drifting a TT-01 with a locked Rear diff as that already is the Ideal Set up for a TT-01..
I think the Rolling Slide start is more appropriate.
Use Half throttle, then in Quick Succession, Turn and apply Full throttle... this will up set the rear of the car and Get the car's rear end out with out having to Scandanavian flick it... once the Back End Starts to slide out, pulse both the throttle and the steering rapidly to control the slide...
If Your having trouble getting it to turn, back off the throttle then instantly re-apply.. this should allow the car to re-gain grip then loose it again..

because the tt01 uses planetary gear diffs, one wheel will spin freely if unloaded thats why u need to put some puddy in the diff to give it the effect of a lsd

Ya I think I might get a ball diff since its completly adjustable. One other question tho. In real drifting you counter steer right? Well it seems my car drifts better if I steer into the drift. Is that normal cause of the 4wd and stuff? I see it done on drifting videos on u tube.

I prefer locking both front and rear diff, sending power to all 4 wheels(now I have full time ALL WHEEL DRIVE instead) allow me to drift smoothly...MUCH better than locking the rear alone, it help me counter-steer and maintain a super long drift with authority! I jammed pack cotton/fiber(pull from old pillow) in both my diff, instead of using puddy or JB weld like someone else suggested, it's very effective with no messy stuff, and can be undone in minutes.

I don't think your problem is the diff. My TA05 did the same thing a whilee ago. Check and see if the dogbones are ejecting from the diff outdrives.

Naw guys I got it now. My drive way was real rough so I swept it clean then hosed it off. I put some fresh tape on the tires and it was alot better. I think the car was just hooking up on junk and spinning out.

Actually Cleaning my drifting surface helped but it is still spinning out. I noticed that it only happens when I drift in a counter clockwise direction. I can do big drift doughnuts all day in a clockwise rotation. Its getting mighty annoying cause the car wont stay in the drift at all. Full countersteer and I still spin.
I just finished locking up my front diff completly so tomorrow I will give that a try. I think I am just loosing power too one of the front wheels when I drift counter clockwise causing the car to behave like a 2wd.

I have a TT-01 with ABS tires and it does the same thing. If you just let the TT-01 spin out constantly in a circle you will notice the clockwise circle is bigger than the counter clockwise circle. Try the same with the car going in reverse and you will get the opposite result. It seems to me that the TT-01 is not a balanced car and the weight of the battery and the torque from the shaft drive is causing this.
I am going to try:
Light weight lipo battery back &
Install anti-sway bars for TT-01
Both are relatively pricey options for the TT-01, so I might just try a TA-05 instead, or you can always practice more (free and more fun =])

Ya locking the front diff did not solve my problems it just caused more. With the full time 4wd its hard to break the tires loose and actually drift. I mostly drive around in circles with the wheels turned all the way unable to get a slide going. With out the locked front this thing is useless for drift and with the diff locked I can barely get a drift going. [:@] I think If I had more power I could get it to slide but the stock motor is pretty weak. Perhaps if I switch to ABS I will get less traction and be able to do it? Taping up my tires every pack is getting annoying anyways.

Thanks for all the help guys hopefully I will get it sliding real nice. I built the car with meatal bearings and an aluminum propshaft as I heard they were essential.

Well got me some ABS today and opened the front diff back up. No time to charge my battery toninght so hopefully I will be drifting tomorrow.

The ABS tires solved all my problems and they just turned this thing into a completly different car. Drifts flawlessly all day long. [sm=thumbup.gif]
