the D-box mounts inline with your steering servo and will help you counter the drift slide and not spin out when the back end gets lose. I think its a waste of money no need for some thing like this. the only thing its good for is some one who has never drifted b4. The better you get with drifting you will find the lower you will set the D-box and one day turn it off and not use it no more for you know how to drift and can drift better without it.
So unless you just cant pick up on how to drift good. I would spend the money on something eles. I dont think its worth the price you can go out to a big parking lot with nothing to hit and learn how to drift safe and not wreck your can.

this d-box or whatever is lame, hpi retail price is $140. It's just a gyro originially use in heli many years ago, this hpi d-box is the EXACT same unit as the Futaba G190 gyro, about $60 at towerhobbies.
look it up and compare them side by side...what a joke. LOL if you want cheap, there is different brand out there going for about $44.00. IMO, you better off spending your money on an extra good battery pack or a couple more sets of drift tires. it's rewarding to be able to drift with SKILL instead of relying on that stuff you know?

What exactly does it do? Dull the output of the servo so you're "smoother"?
I am not into drifting I am just curious to know what it does in more detail
PS. A car should go around a track as fast as possible, not as sideways as possible

the unit connect to your steering servo and it has a built-in sensor to detect over-steer, basically it automatically counter-steer when the rear spin out.

The D-box is like fitting Gold plated Training wheels to a trike..... NOT needed but looks cool.
I wouldnt waste the money on the D-box... If you cannot learn to drift without one, you were never meant to RC drift in the first place...

Wow so it senses oversteer?
And works almost like stability control?
Does it work well?
Anyone ever considered adding one on a circuit car so that it combats unwanted oversteer?

Yup, you can adjust the level of sensitivity to detect oversteer, and it would automatically counter-steer accordingly. Stability control is a lot more complex than these gyro sensor, and these dummy-box helps counter-steer only to a certain degree, you’ll still have to control the throttle, and it won’t help understeer either (wheel turned, but front tires lose grip and plow straight through instead of turning to where you wanted to).

I am really liking the sound of it though
Would it offer a noticable improvement on a circuit car? ie, less spin outs?
Anyone ever driven a car with and without one of these things?

I'll summarize the dbox for you
you spend $140 on a gyro, which drives the car for you, which you eventually learn to drive without, then you have a very expensive, very useless piece of equiptment.
How'd i do?

That's just stupid man, no skill involved with that, but I guess all the rich dudes but it, just like traction control.
