Default choosing my first chassis rtr

Been reading a lot of threads , at first were very tempted to get the tt-01 from tamiya but the more i read the more i see post of people suggesting the HPI Sprint 2 drift series , then later on some people say dont go HPI go team associated and then the HPI cyclone pop up ( but cant see many for sale)

My main aim is to spend $200 ish for the whole setup , i wouldn't want to buy something cheap $130 but at the end of the day i have to throw in parts to make it really adjustable and the total cost would exceed $200 anyway. or choosing 1 which is just ok but adding up the cost which will be more than a team associated tc5 ( just an example)

so my final decision is aiming to the HPI sprint 2 drift series but are they really bad? ( for parts /hop ups , customer service etc ) and how does the hpi cyclone S compared to this?

last question is i see on hpi site that says the battery pack is included but on towerhobbies website it is not , why is this?

cheers

the sprint 2 is a great chassis (to start with). i use to have one and the only 3 hop ups i did was a one way diff in the front, ball in the rear, and a 19x2 motor. it drifted great. my cuzin has the cyclone (hpi and hot bodies are the same company). and it drifts well also.

to me i think you should get the cyclone because it has much more adjustability and its a little more durable then the sprint (thats just me though).

the sprint 2 comes with a battery in the box. i don't know why towerhobbies made that mistake, probally a typo.

hopep that helps.

which cyclone will you recommend? and how much is the total after putting in a radio esc etc?

and why is the cyclone S better?

i found in towerhobbies cyclone S RTR is $269 and the hpi sprint 2 is $206 ..... what can justify the increased of 60 dollars seeing the cyclone kit is all nylon composite and the sprint 2 has some metal parts?

thanks guys

Cyclone S is easier to change a Belt on..
The Sprint 2 requires half the car to be removed just to change a rear belt..

I have the Sprint 2 and the cyclone S and the Cyclone S handles a little better, has Ball Diffs and there are no obstructions stopping Rocks from getting trapped in the Belts...

is ball diff that important?

so basically both is great for race/drift?

I just want to justify if it's worth the extra $50 for the cyclone S rtr and it's all polymer composite ( plastic) compared to the sprint 2.

more feedback will be great cause i just place my order with tower hobbies will be great if someone can correct or affirm my choice or i can cancel it and place another order for the cyclone S if it is a huge difference in chassis capability

just buy this:
http://www.ultimatehobbies.com/istar.asp?a=6&id=HBS66446!1007 ($125)

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...I=LXDEL2**&P=7 ($75)

and all you need is a motor and pinion gear, so total cost is about $235.

sorry bro but which motor and pinion and why you guys still think the cyclone S is still so much better than the sprint 2? and the cyclone S is full plastic compared to the sprint 2

just because it is easier to chnage belt and ball diff? why does the ball diff help?

do I have to buy a spur gear as well?

and if i buy separate like this , is it even better than the cyclone s rtr kit?

thanks for your help

well my friend that i drift with has the cyclone S and its very smooth, change belt is easy, i think its easier to lock the diff if its ball diff. if its better than the cyclone S RTR, i dont know but you get to assemble it and know the car better if u get a kit. i think you dont need the spur gear, just a 64 pitch pinion and motor, i also forgot battery and body.

the sprint is smooth too you just have to make it smooth! and belt changes are only going to occur maybe once a year max( depending on how much you use your car) the diff is easy to lock. the sprint 2 is just as good as the cyclone id say.

thanks for the reply guys.

so since tower hobbies doesn't let me cancel my order , either i will keep it or return the whole thing.

other the belt change difference , what about the the ability to lock up the rear diff? since it's planetary gears compared to ball diff.

and biggest question , where do you guys buy your hopup parts for either car? adjustable full alum shocks etc. i wouldnt want to buy a car that they are going to discontinue soon and no more parts support.
