ball bearings, aluminum shaft, aluminum motor mount for starters
also lock the rear up and use puddy or sumtin to jam the front so that the wheels dont stall on switchbacks.

Here is a pic of my TT 01. It's the orange '86 Toyota.
Upgrades: Locked diffs all the way around, oil filled shocks, and all the Tamiya standard upgrades (i.e. aluminum drive shaft)

On a TT-01 I dont Recommend locking the front Diff, this tends to cause understeer problems and while it does allow you to hold a wicked drift it can cause frustration on a Technical circuit..
Locking the rear Diff can help assist in the steering Bias a TT-01 suffers due to chassis layout, Having the Batts on oneside and the electrics on the other can cause the TT-01 to turn better to one side.. the easiest way to cure the steering bias is to cut the power, make the turn then pour on the power.. Please be aware that locking any diff can cause under steer if your TT-01 is also used as a street racer on rubber tyres...
If its just a drifter and you still wanna street race occasionally, then you can get away with a locked rear diff just be mindfull that its turning circle increases..
Locking a Diff can cause increased Tyre Wear and increased pressure on the transmission when using Racing tyres

theres a couple of methods to lock a diff on a tt01. you can glue em or epoxy em shut, or u can remove one of teh tri bevel gears and fix it between the other two so that there is no movement in the tranny.
to change the motor u remove the six screws on the hood and the brace and remove the mount from teh motor and pinion from the motor and replace everything using the new motor.

Hey, I am thinking of buying a TT-01 and was wondering if this [link=http://www.ultimatehobbies.com/istar.asp?a=6&id=TAM57765!1006]TT-01[/link] is good and what motor, esc and gearing should I use to drift it, and what else should I get for it other than aluminum drive shaft thanks. and is there any better place to buy this car or is this a good deal

I would recommend the trinity komodo dragon or the orion element (both 19t motors), I am not to sure about an esc because mine is stock. full ball bearing set is recommended and any oil filled shocks, to keep your motor cool I would use an aliminium motor heat sink and aliminium motor mount. you will definetly need some drift tyres aswell so I recommend abs tyres.

I have a TT-01 in need of a rebuild. It should be coming together in the next couple of weeks if all goes well. There are a few bits in the mail now and should be arriving sometime this week I guess. Then if I get a weekend to myself I will get to work on it and share some pics with you guys.
What is everyone running as far as diffs go?
At first I was running with the front open and the rear locked but I had oversteer problems. I then locked both diffs but the car suffered from some nasty understeer. I'm Thinkin I may need a ball diff up front so I am able to adjust for more of a LSD effect.

The Goods:
3R CF Chassis
also:
10.5 BL novak system
GPM Alum lower front amrs
GPM Alum lower rear arms
Square RC one way shaft
3pm Futaba 2.4G FASST RX/TX
on with the pics
Ok well the first pics are of the Chassis and the Dif housing and other parts

This is a picture of the CF chassis drying after i gave a coat of Crazy Glue to all the exposed sides, even the counter sunk screws and what not

the only thing that was odd was it seems the front dif housing where the drive outshaft connects to center one way shaft is very long and deep, much more hollow then the stock one, and the one stock bearing was allowing to much play in the out putshaft, so i went out and bought another bearing so it has 2 and now it sits nice and snug. well on with the pics

i still have to retune it for drifting as far as camber and droop but the hard work is done
i know the bumper is on backwards, it wouldnt fit tight any other way
Please ask any question on my set up in the thread i have for it
