RE: AE SC10 4x4 Build
Nice build man. I've been considering doing an SC10 4X4 build for a few days so far, just contemplating still.
Do you do track days and such as well? Or only Solo events? One of my good friends and his wife were co-driving in the ProSolo event down in NJ a couple weeks ago, the Shchipkov's.
I do a lot of track days with different clubs such as the BMWCCA and SCDA. I have an E46 M3.

How long did it take you to cut out the vents in the FloTek body?

There are issues with the SC10 4x4. I dont' like the belt tensioners and plastic parts
My rear tensioner bent (during the above video) and belt was rubbing against it and its worn from the side a little.
The front shocks leaked, I rebuilt them last night, hope they hold. I dont' like the pastic parts inthe shocks and one of them is like glued so I couldn't take it apart compelelty but I was able to take out the piston/rod and washers.
Also put 40wt in the front, will put 35wt in the rear.
I would rather put some better quality shocks - any recommendations?
I also have to rebuild one of the diffs again. as one of the seals was broken.

The X-rings seem to be leading to stiction, which leads to torn rings. These guys have an O-ring rebuild kit

My car is at VAC motorsports right now, a awesome BMW shop.

I too just do HPDEs for now. BMWCCA is great for most skill levels on their events, but it's nice to stray away a little and do SCCA PDX or SCDA events. I actually will be at NJMP at the end of June for two events, one with SCDA then one with Trackdaze.

Doing the rear shock rebuild right now even though they did not leak. Good thing though one of the piston screw to rod was at its last thread, obviously shoddy build.

RE: AE SC10 4x4 Build
ThunderbirdJunkie raced his SC10 4x4 for the first time tonight. Only driven it two other times. Took third in the A main. Truck needs some tweaking...and so does ThunderbirdJunkie's driving...but man it's awesome. Goes like stink in a straight line, and cuts inside any other 4w SCT. The SCTE guys have been talking about how the Losi truck's extra weight is an advantage when negotiating traffic, but it doesn't really help them when you dive into the corner hot, cut inside them and use them as a rolling guardrail
(if it wasn't a good racin' buddy's truck that was the target, ThunderbirdJunkie wouldn't have done that)
Oh, and ThunderbirdJunkie is EXTREMELY impressed with this Castle 3800. He wasn't able to hang with the 550-powered SC10 4x4s, but he had no problem chasing any of the SCTEs down the straight with reckless abandon[8D]
The truck has taken some seriously gnarly hits and it is brutally strong. Did have a shock screw come loose during practice and had to fix that before racing started, but the truck has had no faults that weren't caused by ThunderbirdJunkie's lackadaisical approach to RC maintenance
Rapidly painted body that was just "layin around"...the kit supplied body is going to the cat that painted the lid for ThunderbirdJunkie's XXX-SCT tomorrow.
Oh, and swapping transponders into/out of this truck is a pain in the butt. Going to pick up a transponder that will stay in this truck.

Hanging it from the bumper shouldn't be an issue at all. That's actually a killer idea...maybe ThunderbirdJunkie should do that with some of his cars to free up floorspace.

Okay,
I got my SC10 got all my gear mesh set and took the truck out for a little hoorah...... after a few minutes the motor started stuttering and the truck wouldn't move......
Mamba Monster
Castle Creations 1410 3800Kv
Spektrum Radio
I have no clue what the deal is the truck was running great and was just done all the sudden, I'm still new to this so I'm stumped

Take the belt cover off and the rear and front covers off.
check the belt tensioner pulleys and see if the belt slipped or is binding.
remove the spur and pinion and check if the motor work on its own..
you'll find what is wrong.

It's the motor stuttering even with nothing attached pinion off and all. I don't know why it's doing it they said to braid the lines that didn't help sodering was done by a tech at work so I know it was done correctly. Stumped.

RE: AE SC10 4x4 Build
Put a capacitor on your receiver. Novak sells it as a Glitchbuster, Spektrum sells it as something else.
What's happening is your servo is pulling too much current through the receiver and the Rx is browning out. Browning out means the Rx is having too much current pulled from it by the servo and ESC and it can't continue to power the radio at all.
ThunderbirdJunkie *THINKS* he explained that properly[&:]

No clue, it's one of those funky Spektrum things. Their ability to deal with current is a darn sight worse than anybody else's 2.4 receivers, it seems.
