Kyosho DRX Lancia Stratos

Finally i got one, or atleast the body for it. I am waiting for the [link=http://www.kyosho.com/eng/products/rc/detail.html?product_id=107744]Fiesta S2000[/link] to arrive in my hobby store in november, so until then i have no chassi to put the Stratos on. But as you can see from the pictures i have some work to be done to shorten the waiting time. I still don't have the decals for it, but they are on its way.
For some reason i just got to have lights on my cars, so there is always a lot of thinking how to make it look as right and scale as possible. But i think i am heading in the right direction here, without bragging too much about it
I let the pics speak for themself here. The rear lights are made from a spoon from Ikea (
) which i chopped up and put in my lathe, and the "glass" for the lights are scrap lexan which i formed in a mold i made for them from plywood.

As i wrote above, going to use the Stratos-body on the Fiesta-chassi, which is also a DRX-chassi. I think they should mate up pretty well

Got it painted today, wohoo! Glad it only needed one colour for the livery it is going to have so i didn't have to mask the hell out of it. Going to do the rear light tomorrow i think. I keep the protection film on until i get the decals for it.

Had a little test fit of the rear lights today, looks good in my opinion
The plan is to wrap the clear lenses in the stickers for the rear lights, if that fail i will make some new ones on my computer and print them out.

That's looking good..
How do you find the DRX in general? I was impressed when I saw one up close at a hobby fair - seemed good quality..
I just think it needs a 2-speed to be fast enough to be interesting..(for me anyway..)

Thank you!
I found it on Kyosho Norway's site, and i asked my local hobby store to order it for me as they are a Kyosho dealer. Simple as that

Thanks! I came to a grinding halt just before i started to rattle with the spray cans, and decided to mask off the louvres. I am glad i did that
Turned out pretty good.
Well, it kind of worries me too, but i will buy some parts now and then to have in stock for the future. Might get another body aswell.

Finally the decal sheets arrived, so now the body is starting to look like something
It is a mind game to apply them, you always have to "think" two decals ahead as some of them are supposed to lay on top of another one, like the grill mesh/light-decal on the front, this was to be put on top of the green stripe around the corner thata again meets the green stripe that goes front over the main front grille[&:]
But i am staring to get tha hang of it now

More decals applied! And six more to go. Reverse lights, registration plates, an I and an 90
The rear reg.plate will have to wait, the large black decal on the rear turned out to end up as a mess so i will make a new one, that is where the reg.plate, the I and the 90 goes

Some new pics of what has been done lately. I couldn't get myself to "just" apply the reverse light-decals, so i made two little blocks out of 3 mm thick plastic to outline them a bit.

Damn.. Was just in the LHS, and they had a DRX on display.. Really impressed by these RC's for the money. I see there are even a few new bodies out - dark blue Subaru today - that looked great.. And just saw a nice looking Ford on ebay..
Just needs a 2-speed, even as an option part, and I'd be all over it...

Yes, i know about the Ford, as i have mentioned earlier here (i think) i am waiting for it to arrive in the shops here. But it seems that i have to wait longer, they should have been in the shops a long time ago. I am going to use the chassi for both the Ford and Lancia-bodies, but as i am a Ford-man i don't want to buy the C-4 or the Impreza just to buy one, so i wait a bit longer.
Is it really a new Impreza, or is it the dark blue WRC-car ([link=http://www.kyosho.com/eng/products/rc/detail.html?product_id=108354]this one[/link]) you have seen?
I see you long for that 2-speed, isn't there any way you can modify an existing 2-speed from another Kyosho or another brand?

I don't know. But this car costs under €200 here. That is a GREAT price for a good quality RC. I'd pay €50 more if it had a 2-speed and would it 85kmh - and it would be worth it..
I had a FW-05T, and it was fast and ultra-reliable and cheap - great value for money.. And here in Germany parts for Kyosho are affordable and everywhere..

Breaking news; there is a [link=http://www.kyosho.no/Modell_Detaljer.aspx?ArtNr=01.TRW158&BildLopNr=01]2-speed![/link]
I found it just now as an option part, i was looking to see if it was any news on the Ford Fiesta, and i found that too, it will be in the shops 16. december. Good news for both of us, hehe!
