lipo charging question
i was running my gens ace pack in my blitz and i went to 2.96 volts on cell #2 after a run and now the whole pack will only charge to 4.14 volts per cell. i have heard that cyling may bring the pack back to a more healthy state, is thisa mere rumor and truely doesn't work ordoe sit actually hold some water (or voltage in this case).it's a 2s pack and i am trying tobe causus with it,i know it's not a ton of differance (being only0.06 volts per cell from full) but it's my favorite pack and i don't want any further damage. any help will be apreaciated.

No amount of "cycling" will do any good for it.
If only cell 2 is at 4.14 while cell 1 is at 4.2 then the pack just needs to be balanced. If they are both only 4.14 I can't imagine why it won't charge any further. If it's in balance then using it once won't hurt anything. Maybe on a recharge it will charge fully OR if it is in balance then putting it back on charge will finish it up.

The way lipos charge and discharge is balanced.
The way we charge them is the same way, and there's no way to cycle the battery pack, because of this.
The higher the voltage, charged and stored, the longer the lipo will last. I still have a 40C 2S that I bought in 2006, and still performs like it's new. Can't say that about the old skool batteries.

i am using a thunder charger, not thunder power, it's the thunder t6 i beleive and it can measure cell voltage as it charges and has been accurate from charge to charge, pack to pack. this charger has worked great on everything i have from nicd to lipo.

if the battery is 5000mah am i supposed to to charge it at 5A? my battery and charger will come in on tuesday. I'm using Thunder AC6 SKY LIPO 5000mAh 40C 7.4V on stampede 4X4. I'm so excited first real RC grade.

I was using balance charge mode on my thunder ac6 with battery 2s 5000mah. it doesnt say "full" like i charge it the other time. but instead it say"CAPA" i did some research and it say max capacity cut off. so does that mean my battery is not fully charged? should i change the max capacity charge? What should i do?

It means that your pack "may not be full" , but it is very very close. You should use a voltmeter of some sort to check the charge status. 4.2 is a full cell.

I'm doing balance charger again.and i check the voltage on the charger it says 4.20v and the other cell is 4.18v. but the total voltage right now is 8.4. charging at .2a-.3a

when it got done balance it read 4.2 and 4.19. i can't really tell when LVC on traxxas kick in so i just order lipo alarm. What is the safe lipo cutoff? i read around and people suggest 3.7v is the best?

sounds fine to me, its ok if the charger stops charging it and one cell is 4.2 and the other 4.19. If the difference was 4.2v to 4.1v then I might be worried.
I have the same charger, I always balance charge, its better for your battery and I don't see why you would want to use the non balance charge function, maybe its for when charging 1s or something [&:]

Bigfoot: You'll know when the batt needs replacing when one of the cells is WAY different from the other, and/or it won't charge properly or hold a charge. If your batt ever looks like it's puffed-up or damaged in any way, don't charge it, and take it to your LHS for recycling.

I know you're supposed to be a guru around here (not that Iam) but from what many other folks here and my LHS guy have said, what you say may be POSSIBLE, but if you want the battery to LAST, charging at a 1C rate is the rule of thumb for safety and longevity. So, where do you come up with that assertion?

LHSs recycle batteries? Since when?
