RE: Subaru Impreza WRC 1/10 Bycmo
The film is securely on the body shell still and isn't peeling at all so should be ok then.
The black mark is from a marker pen, it's on the film and not on the inside.
You probably wondering what it's doing there well I marked the front splitter on the inside so it'll be black once painted and just did a scribble to get it working.
As for the F40 well haven't realy got £60 inc p&p for a body shell right now.
Next job is the 12mm hubs, haven't forgotten.

hi ian
just keep an eye on the film between now and the time you paint it
yes i did wonder what the mark was doing there and now i understand
yes it is a bit on the high side for a body shell
i think the 12mm hubs will transform your shells
i look at my bycmo with the shells its had and the bycmo wheels and it still looks like a bycmo
and now it has the 12mm hubs it always looks like a completly different car when i change just the body
and the same happends if i just change the wheels and keep the same body if you understand that
i have a set of plain white wheels and with the bycmo subaru body shell to look at it you wouldnt know it was a bycmo
such a small detail like that and it gives it such a big change i think its well worth it

This is very true and is the next job.
Still haven't got paint yet so can't do anything at the moment.
Soon as they are painted I will put some pics on
There appears to be different opinions on shell painting.
Hpi say cut out afterwards and Degostini say cut out before painting.

RE: Subaru Impreza WRC 1/10 Bycmo
hi ian
cant wait to see them painted and what you have in mind
whatever it is has to be better than the bycmo subaru shell
while im thinking of it dont forget that after you have finished
painting and drilling and cutting remember to remove the overspray film
im only saying this as i have forgot that in the past
i marked, sprayed, drilled and cut out and then started to apply the decals
luckly i had only just started to stick a corner down then i tryed to lift the decal to reposition it
and it was then i noticed the film was still on the car as it started to lift[sm=red_smile.gif][sm=red_smile.gif][sm=lol.gif]

Haha lol, will remember the outer film
I agree about the scooby shell, very common even before used on the bycmo shell.
Will be making the posts the same on both cars now too, then we can swap shells over. Did mention the posts being different was good but it makes life easier.

RE: Subaru Impreza WRC 1/10 Bycmo
hi ian
dont get me wrong about the subaru shell it is a nice looking car when done right
its just that bycmo came along and instead of letting everybody decide what to do with the shell
they had the shell molded in a cheap blue plastic as a fully painted shell they should of either left the whole shell clear
(not a good idea if you have never painted or are to young to use spray paint)
or just left the windows clear and supply the blacked out window decals so you can choose
i have put the better halfs pink subaru over my bycmo chassis
just to see what it would look like before i did the hub convertion and it did look good
better than the bycmo shell
the bycmo shell looks ok with the white wheel rims better than there golod rims
like i have said all along its a great car i love it more now than before i converted it

lol thats a better idea than the one i had which was just to blame him lol
having said that you will have to paint them both the same for your idea to work
otherwise he could just say mine is this colour and yours is that colour

RE: Subaru Impreza WRC 1/10 Bycmo
Well we all like to modify things and make them our own with the Subaru shell that's probably the same thing.
I surpose they did the shell that way to make it easier for all age groups, just as you mentioned about not being able to paint or being too young, although with adult supervision it would have made the bycmo a bit more interesting.
The idea with the Lotus shells is to finish them with 2 tone but different colourto front and different colour to the back on each shell. (I think that makes sense) it's getting late.
Can't wait for the paint, it's taking ages...other stuff has arrived before that what was payed for afterwards.

hi ian
just has a thought if you want to make your cars to stand out even more try plastikote glitter silver or gold
http://www.plasti-kote.co.uk/product/pcode-4148
if you do go down that road you only need a light spray all over the inside of the shell
you must remember that as its clear it will look like its not going on
but when you turn the shell back over it will show
the more you apply the more silver it will become so just a light spray is all thats needed
then just apply the paint over the top when its dry it will transform the look of the car

RE: Subaru Impreza WRC 1/10 Bycmo
Thanks for the paint chart
This plastikote they have been selling in Halfords for years yes?
Sounds like a realy good idea that does.
I will nip in and have a look at their different colours and effects that they do. Deffo be something a bit different.
How was the truck meet Dus?
Have had a bit of progress but not on the Lotus sheels.
Got 4 old used shells just to mess about with, well one of the shells was actually realy good so we modified it to fit and put stickers on it.
Hereare the 4 used shells.

The one that we liked that was in good condition that we put stickers on, luckily the arches were too small so we cut them out to fit
Getting the hang already, it's a pain putting new holes in a painted shell but it came out good.

hi ian
yes halfords sell it and also wilkinsons sell it
but halfords will be expencive it always has been and always will be
the only real problem i have and always will have with glitter paint is
that a camera never picks it up and doesnt do a paint job any justice
(have a look at the forum photos both the pink trucks are painted pink with the glitter sliver on top
and you should see what i mean
http://scaletrucks.bb3host.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=214)
the truck meet was exhausting as alway but good and we love it
it was a small turn out as we had cancelled it last week due to the snow
but then the snow went and we had it but most people had made other plans
(there loss [sm=lol.gif])

hi ian
cool shells
something to practice with you could use the stickers to cover the pre drilled holes
and if you want you could paint the outside to get the practice in
the only difference will be the finish will be a flat matt colour
as the paint used the polycarbonate to give it a lacquer finish #

Cool link on the truck photos, yes you can see the pink you prob need a real close up to see the glitter effect.
You see the pic of the one we liked that we added stickers too , well we did hide the previous holes
We were pretty pleased with the finished car.
Videos is a great idea dus, will have to take some. Mine is a bit quicker due to the white cogs and the 3700 battery pack.
Realy want to do own shell from scratch.....need blooming paint..
The bro in law has got a nitro truck and doesnt use it much now...should i try it and maybe buy it? ... not sure yet.

hi ian
if you click back on the link i gave you yesterday you will see the better halfs pink truck with the glitter silver
and there is a couple of video's to watch of yesterdays truck meet
one of the videos from yesterday is the tandy golden arrow that converted
that 3700mhz battery pack wil make the car very fast without the cog upgrade
i bet you cant wait to paint your shells
but remember to take your time and dont rush it as you will spoil it and there is no way back
well if its coming by royal mail you have more chance of it snowing in hell and having it stick than getting your paint
i have a good friend who has ordered a very expencive sound and lighting unit for his truck from germany and he is still waiting for that to arrive
