RE: OFFICAL PEDE THREAD
I'm no expert, but from what I've seen I think the velineon is the best deal for a brushless system. It will be faster, allow more battery options, and run cooler (which means it will also likely be more reliable too) than the sidewinder. Personally I'd have no use at all with that programming option. Thats just a novelty to me, and I prefer plug-n-play. But to each their own.

the sidewinder is programmed like the mamba, not the mamba max. it is through the reciever wires. the red white and black ones. it takes a special wire. and i just said it would cost about an extra $25 or so to get to be able to computer program it. thats with the wire and instructions.

RE: OFFICAL PEDE THREAD
exactly. im not bashing on it either. its a good system. two guys i sold it too came back in a week later for some broken parts and they love them. but you need to figure out everything before you buy. i would personally take a VXL over the sidewinder... and probly a mamba max over the VXL. just so i could have that programming. in the end, if you want to program, your gonna pay as much as it would cost to get the plug and play VXL. and the VXL will be stronger IMO. lower KV means more torque. more torque on smaller batteries can lead to more speed cause you can gear it better

RE: OFFICAL PEDE THREAD
my reciever pooped out because i flipped in a puddle. so i took the one off of my rc18t. lol the antenna doesnt even stick out of the top of the body. and also i made a custom battery strap. here are some picks. and i also painted my stock bumper with a sharpie type pen. i broke my rpm bumper lol actually we broke 3. one on my stampede, one on my brothers rustler, and one on my rc18t.

if he stripped all metal gears then they were messed up to begin with... or else he got a rock in the gear box. with only 6 cell on a 5700 motor it shouldnt need metal gears though. what i would do, is run the gearing you have. after you run, if the motor isnt hot, gear up some and put either a smaller spur or larger pinion. only by a few teeth though. and all depending on how hot the motor is.

yea he only stripped one gear and it was with a 7 cell and 7700kv. but i think it was because he jumped it to high (he cant jump to well) and landed wrong.

no he has it geared pretty good. he can do wheelies (insane amounts) and it will hit 50 (we clocked it with a gps it actually said 51 but who care) on crappy 7 cells.

yeh see im on the first gen pede, so a quarter turn out for me melts gears.... which means its way too loose. your on the xl-5, so a quarter turn out is fairly tight...

RE: OFFICAL PEDE THREAD
okay lol now i am considering the vxl over the sidewinder. i really dont know. which one would be faster? its not just the speed. i want a fast acceleration, fast top speed, and good run times. i know they are both good but i just dont know. i saw them both on youtube with 6 and 7 cells and they seem about the same. what do you guys think?
and if you are running a mamba it should say on the end how many cells it can handle nimh and lipo.
