Default motor and reciever questions

I currently have my stock motor in my evader ST. I know I have to upgrade the ESC to upgrade the motor. What is a good motor that would give me more speed and torque? What is the difference between modified and stock? Can you rebuild modifed motors?

I have the stock reciever RX100. If I were to get a better one, what are the benefits? How would I know if it would be compatible?

Default RE: motor and reciever questions

Just about any motor will be better than the one you have. I just got a P2k2 and it is a great motor. Not the fastest 27 turn out there but it is good. I have a green machine and monster horsepower on the way (for my brothers evaders) so we will see if they are better than mine. I have been told that both are faster. Your esc is fine as long as you stay above 20 turns.

Your stock reciever is just fine. There is no reason to get a new one. If/when you get a new radio it will come with a new receiver too.

Thanks for the response. I wanted something in the range of 13 to 15 turns. I didn't want to but one an dthen have it be really slow. What are good motors that I should look at? Can you rebuild modified motors? What is the difference between modifieds and stock?

Thanks for the input. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I am a newbe. Will a 19 turn motor really be that much faster then the 20 turn stock motor that came with the truck?

Yes, it will if you are buying a good quality 19 turn. The stock 20 turn that came with your setup likely has bushings (not bearings), weaker magnets, and cheapo brushes. Something like the Reedy Quad Mag 19 turn will be a considerable increase in power and speed (you may have to change the gearing to get the best performance out of it).

Remember that you have the evader st, not the evader st PRO. Your esc can only handle down to a 20 turn motor. You will get more performance from a 27 turn stock racing motor than anything else in that range (20-27). If you want to get a quad mag (very good motor) then you will need a new esc that can handle the motor.

Yes, I am looking to get a new ESC. I am trying to decide which one to get that will be good for bashing and racing without costing to much.

I don't know how much room you have for an ESC but the [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXAXU0&P=0]DuraTrax[/link] is a decent unit for a very good price. It will handle down to 8 turns, has reverse for bashing, and is well under 100 bucks (though it is bigger than the higher dollar units).
