Default which receiver for my evader

My receiver is bad in my electric evader ST. I can't seem to find the stock one on tower. What is the benefit of upgrading to another receiver? What makes a good receiver? How do I tell if it will work with my car/radio? Any help you can provide would be great.

I know my receiver is bad because when I put my sons in my car the problem goes away.

Also, do you know of any good books/magizines that explains the parts and how they work as well as describes what each piece is for and the benfits?

Also, would I need another set of crystals or would the ones I have work?

I think that any 27 mHz AM will work if it's AM. If it is 75 mHz then the futaba, tower 75 mHz AM will work. Your old crystals should work fine either way (unless that is the part of the rx that is bad)

Thanks. What is the benefit to getting a more expensive receiver? What does it buy you?

A more expensive rx would give possibly quicker more precise control, better range, less interference and less chance of glitching depending upon what you went with, but would also require the rest of the radio also like the transmitter.

I mean if I were to upgrade what would be a good transmitter/receiver combo at a good price.

Can't help you there, as I am using 27 AM and 75 AM. I do think that ANY FM will be better or any 2.4 gHz is better.

Look at the Futaba 2PL if you stay with an AM radio, and if you go FM look at the Futaba 3PM

They are great radio's. I have the 2PL but if I had to do it all again I would have payed more and got the 3PM and the better radio.
