RE: dx3 solution needed
I haven't had the problem but I suppose it is possible. The Spektrum receiver, unlike a standard AM or FM receiver, is based on a microchip that decodes the spread spectrum signal. If the BEC output of the ESC dropped below 3.3V (the likely voltage the digital circuitry runs on) for even a few milliseconds it could cause the receiver to lose it's sync with the transmitter.
If it becomes a regular problem you could put a small capacitor (even about a 22 microfarad 25 volt part would do) across the bec voltage feed to the receiver. They sell a 4700 uFD 10V part for $6 on their website - just the plug and pins to go into the receiver will cost you more than that at your LHS so it's quite a bargain. That would hold it up for the time that it drops when you first squeeze the throttle and the motor is drawing it's maximum current. (Of course, you could just accept that you have a limited runtime for the batteries or you could go for higher capacity batteries instead of modifying the circuit - that might void the warranty if it's still in effect.)
(The spec for the cap from their website was added to my post after I read Doahh's post below - thanks for the info!)

i've got a gtb 5.5 with spectrum and what you described is how i know i left the battery in to long. i change my battery because that means its almost completely drained.
